“Why haven’t you killed me?”
“They say you shot one of our men in the back, but you never raised your weapon during the fight. I wanted to hear your side. Keep in mind it may not matter, but a little entertainment never hurt anyone.”
“They’re right. I did.”
“You don’t seem very proud.”
“Why should I? One minute I’m part of a team trying to get wounded to safety. The next, our chopper is crashing and I get knocked out. When I wake up, I hear a fire fight, assume the worst because we’re in a war, and shoot at the nearest target. I never realized we were the ones that shot first. The last I knew, we were the good guys, the diplomats. I didn’t count on the cyborg dictating and sealing our fates without asking us. I foolishly assumed we were a team.” She stopped. “Did any make it? Do you know?”
He nodded, but didn’t elaborate. Autumn thought of John so needlessly splattered over her and felt sick to her stomach. She swallowed back her bile and turned to the Commando.
“I still killed an innocent man. Justice should be served.” She closed her eyes and lowered her head. “I will accept what you deem fair.”
Autumn heard a gun cock behind her and relief swept over her as the bullet burned through the back of her skull.

arthurtuxedo wrote:Good post, but it requires a bit of explanation. Marshall managed to hack into a rocket artillery battery and destroy the garbage truck and two gun trucks, saving the remainder of the group's bacon at the 11th hour (CorSec's characters always do that, somehow). Not knowing how their vehicles were being destroyed, the rest of the gang fled, so it's not obvious how Autumn ended up in their clutches.
