02:35 (1729) gerardpaloma: When last we visited our villains, they had defeated a robot sent, presumably, to recapture F2K. They had set about investigating SENTINEL in their own way, to meet back up a week later. In the intervening time, Evil Inc (as they will now call themselves) has acquired a secret subway HQ with the proceeds from their bank heist. Let's look in on them now, shall we?
02:35 (1734) Mentacles: Besides, I am just increasing the power of the TK
02:36 (1798) Black Star: aaah. fair enough. ^_^
02:36 (1729) gerardpaloma: **Start Issue 7**
02:36 (1802) Red Fox: (( do you want to load a map? ))
02:36 (1729) gerardpaloma: (Let me do that.)
02:37 (1729) gerardpaloma: (what is it, just load map, and choose an image? How does it work?)
02:37 (1802) Red Fox: (( has to be on the internets ))
02:37 (1729) gerardpaloma: (it is)
02:38 (1729) gerardpaloma: (arrange minis as you wish)
02:38 (1734) Mentacles: (I have 743 points of mental strength now... that enough to fold streets?)
02:38 (1836) Talon: (How so much? How many points do you have in that?)
02:39 (1802) Red Fox: (( in the image, the grid size is 50 ))
02:39 (1734) Mentacles: ((495)
02:40 (1836) Talon: (Yikes! Damn me and my not noticing that full TK was the cheapest way of doing damage. That means Mentacles is now the group's strongest blaster)
02:40 (1798) Black Star: (495 gives you 495 strength)
02:40 (1734) Mentacles: (though I will start branching out into other mental powers)
02:40 (1840) Wraith: (Telekinesis is arguably overpowered compared to strength.)
02:40 (1798) Black Star: (its 495 strength per point, or double that in knockback)
02:41 (1798) Black Star: (and if you are going for combat TK, you might as well but speed and such.)
02:41 (1836) Talon: (That's what it should be, but I overlooked the fact that it's 3 strength per 2 points)
02:41 (1798) Black Star: (its not strength if its push or pull only, its only knockback as far as I recall)
02:41 (1734) Mentacles: yep
02:42 (1836) Talon: (I changed it, of course, but changes are not retroactive to current campaigns unless something's irredeemably broken.)
02:42 (1798) Black Star: "Good," she stepped back and busied herself by straightening his uniform. "I'm glad I could help. With what I've uncovered, you need to be at your best." She looked around. "We should probably get inside." She started to turn to walk inside but stopped short. She kissed him again, forcefully this time. She broke it off just short of eternity. "If only we didn't have work to do," she commented. Before he could react she turned and walked away, leaving him to think about that for a while.
02:42 (1798) Black Star: doh.
02:42 (1798) Black Star: wrong post.
02:42 ** (1802) Red Fox points and laughs **
02:42 (1798) Black Star: its 3kb for 1 sp for push pull only.
02:42 (1798) Black Star: push/pull does not give you "strength"
02:42 (1798) Black Star: only full control does.
02:43 (1798) Black Star: /sigh
02:43 (1836) Talon: (I'm saying that when the campaign started, it was 3 strength for 2 SP on full control)
02:43 (1798) Black Star: (ya.)
02:43 (1729) gerardpaloma: (this is very interesting, and all, but there is a game, here.)
02:44 (1798) Black Star: (lets boogey. :P)
02:44 (1836) Talon: (Come on, man! There's a beverage here!)
02:44 (1836) Talon: "Well, here we are..." Talon offers.
02:45 (1802) Red Fox: Talon and I have been very busy this week. Excuse the mess, it's a work in progress.
02:45 ** (1802) Red Fox holds an access badge onto a little box at the side of the door and waits for it to open. "Welcome to Evil Inc." **
02:47 Server Administrator-> Press R or Z twice to do a barrel roll!
02:47 (1802) Red Fox: "Each of you will receive a key card, just like this one. It opens both security doors. If you should forget," she points to a spot in the ceiling, "I urge you not to forget." She walks everyone inside, fliping a light switch as she enters.
02:48 (1729) gerardpaloma: (that's great)
02:48 ** (1798) Black Star settled on silence for the moment, Talon's quip ignored for the most part. He had nothing constructive to add. His head turned his eyes glancing towards Red Fox for a moment as she spoke. The idea of her working with Talon was an interesting one, but he did not allow anything to come of it. When the door opened he slid within. **
02:49 (1837) Foe-Matic 2000: F2K stands beside Talon, as always. F3K is nowhere to be seen.
02:49 (1802) Red Fox: The darkness is dispelled in an old section of abandoned subway track beneath Serenity Springs. Among other things, the space is sparsely decorated with furniture and a few ammenities. Dominating one wall is a giant screen.
02:50 ** (1840) Wraith absently listens to the instrucions, her mind eslewhere as Red Fox talks. **
02:50 (1734) Mentacles: Mentacles is nowhere to be seen to the naked eyes
02:50 (1734) Mentacles: as usual
02:50 (1802) Red Fox: (( otherwise, it's a blank canvas for everyone to occupy as they imagine. The genesis is for this to look like Luthor's hideout from Superman 1 ))
02:51 (1798) Black Star: "This is better than I expected." He said softly. He had thought that he knew the subway system of the system better than anyone but he had not run into this place. He found himself seperating from the group as a whole as he looked around. This would do nicely.
02:53 (1798) Black Star: "Is Mentacles coming or is he here already?" His tone was flat. He disliked that about the man. He enjoyed flashing his powers far too much. He could see Wraith easily enough even if she seemed a bit preoccupied but Mentacles was nowhere to be seen at all.
02:54 (1734) Mentacles: He taps BS on the shoulder
02:54 (1729) gerardpaloma: (So you're all still just standing out on the Subway track?)
02:55 ** (1802) Red Fox walks directly to one of the workstations. She taps a few keys and the view screen comes to life. On it are five pictures of costumed individuals. **
02:55 (1802) Red Fox: (( hmm... let me make a quick collage ))
02:55 (1729) gerardpaloma: A light appears around the corner at the end of the tunnel. A train is coming.
02:55 (1836) Talon: Talon follows Red Fox inside.
02:56 (1798) Black Star: He forced a smile when he felt the tapping on his shoulder. He could see nothing still. He could have fired, but Mentacles was a friend. "There you are." His tone was flat.
02:56 ** (1840) Wraith floats inside. **
02:56 (1836) Talon: (Made a post in the Might As Well Face It thread explaining what happened with F3K)
02:56 (1734) Mentacles: (just so you know My brother is on the phone so I may be a bit slow)
02:57 ** (1798) Black Star followed Red Fox and the others. **
02:58 (1729) gerardpaloma: Black Star enters the HQ just as the train barrels past.
02:58 (1798) Black Star: (very nice! sorry that your crib went up like a roman candle.)
03:00 (1836) Talon: (Hehe. That's what happens when you get greedy and try to harness the power instead of destroying it)
03:00 (1798) Black Star: His eyes slid over the five workstations and the pictures that laid therein. His eyes watching closely until he finally found himself speaking. "the new SENTINEL I presume?" Some of the pictures were familiar to him.
03:00 (1836) Talon: (Talon's a greedy, power-hungry bastard and sometimes it bites him in the ass)
03:00 (1802) Red Fox: Indeed.
03:00 (1798) Black Star: (it happens. :] that is part of his charm.)
03:00 (1729) gerardpaloma: (There's Gil/Enkidu, and possibly Ghost, too)
03:01 ** (1802) Red Fox clears her throat. "The Times has on occasion had unprecedented access to the vigilante community, especially the members of SENTINEL. Despite this access, knowledge about their powers is sketchy at best, usually relying on the recollection of excited or panicked bystanders. Even the proliferation of video capture devices has not shed much light on the matter." **
03:01 (1802) Red Fox: Both Black Star and High Power were, shall we say, converted. High Power is currently serving a life term in Max. Black Star, as you can see, is still free and has been a very naughty boy.
03:02 (1802) Red Fox: (( oo, just noticed. gotta do this one line at a time. ))
03:02 (1729) gerardpaloma: (Don't fruit the beer!)
03:02 (1802) Red Fox: (( has everyone had a chance to peruse my post "Behind the Curtain"? ))
03:02 (1836) Talon: (Yep)
03:02 (1840) Wraith: (No, my internet has just died.)
03:03 (1798) Black Star: He smiled when he heard his name, his steps carrying him to a nearby chair where he promptly sad. His eyes settled on watching the Red Fox closely, perhaps to better hear her as she spoke.
03:03 (1798) Black Star: (I have read it. very nice piccies.)
03:03 (1802) Red Fox: That being said, discovering who is in SENTINEL and what they can do was not extraordinarily difficult.
03:03 (1802) Red Fox: I went back two years, the last time any of us had an entanglement with SENTINEL. Then the known membership was as follows:
03:04 (1802) Red Fox: # Black Star # Enkidu* # ghost # Gilgamesh* # High Power # Shining Staff
03:04 (1802) Red Fox: Shining Staff eventually retired, no other information is available under that alias.
03:04 (1802) Red Fox: The one known as ghost is completely off the radar. He may or may not still be a member of SENTINEL. If he is, it is behind the scenes.
03:04 (1802) Red Fox: The Jekyll and Hyde duo of Gilgamesh and Enkidu are still members of SENTINEL though they have been relegated to what is considered 'desk work' and are actively recruiting new members. Though they are not regularly seen on the street, but they are not out of the picture completely.
03:04 (1802) Red Fox: Newer vigilantes brought on board are characters known as Favnir, Mr. Obliterator, Seventh Sun, Purple Haze and Revenant.
03:04 (1802) Red Fox: The newest member is "Mr. Obliterator." The name is suggestive, but there are no other details as to what he is capable of.
03:05 (1802) Red Fox: (as she mentions the name of each "hero", the picture flashes twice)
03:05 (1802) Red Fox: Rarely seen and thus also uncategorized is "Purple Haze." From the descriptions, he is not unlike our Mentacles in that he is both 'there' and 'not-there.' No other abilities are enumerated.
03:05 (1802) Red Fox: "Revenant" by all appearances is dead. It is speculated that he is an angry spirit, but not categorized as a poltergeist. When "Revenant" engages a group, they usually attack one another. It has been reported numerous times that he has been killed, but I assume already being dead he is able to return from that state.
03:05 (1802) Red Fox: "Seventh Sun" seems to be the analog, or opposite, of our Black Star. "Seventh Sun" seems to be able to harness the power of the sun to attack his targets. He can project light beams from his eyes and force beams from his hands.
03:06 (1802) Red Fox: Finally, there is "Favnir." His appearance is not human. He appears more like a lizard than anything else. When SENTINEL is dispatched he is the only member that is always present. Apparently, if he does not go, no one does. Exact quantification of his powers is not possible. The unique aspect of Favnir is that he never engages the enemy directly. Rather, witness report "Favnir" aiming projectiles at his allies the source allegedly being his helmet.
03:06 (1802) Red Fox: On a hunch I did some further digging on "Favnir." According to Quikipedia...
03:06 (1802) Red Fox: in Norse mythology a dwarf named "Fafnir" wore the Aegis helmet and guarded his father's house of glittering gold and flashing gems. He was the strongest and most aggressive of the three brothers.
03:06 (1802) Red Fox: While I do not believe "Favnir" is a true mythological beast, evidence does point towards him adopting it as a cover. Simply put, destroy the helmet and it could neutralize his power. Tactically, Favnir is, or should be, the primary target in any engagement with SENTINEL. The others present direct threats of course but the faster Favnir is taken out the faster they will all fall.
03:06 ** (1802) Red Fox takes a second to look over the audience as she finishes. "Questions? Comments?" **
03:07 (1798) Black Star: It took a fair amount of self control not to chuckle at the name. The flashing picture noted and appreciated. Of all the ridiculous names a man could choose. Revenant did not attract his amusement directly, although his supposed ability to make enemies attack each other was unnerving. This group could not handle more of that. Seventh Sun drew a frown from him. The last one, met with a pensive look as he considered any questions.
03:08 (1729) gerardpaloma: (go ahead and laugh at Mr Obliterator. I dare ya. ;))
03:08 (1798) Black Star: "If Ghost and Enkidu or Gilgamesh tag along for the ride, we will be outnumbered. If at all possible, that is a situation we should take pains to avoid." He went silent then as he considered furhter thoughts.
03:08 (1798) Black Star: (LAWL! OMGBBQKTHX BAI!)
03:09 (1802) Red Fox: I have a plan for that.
03:09 (1836) Talon: Talon remains silent while he listens to Red Fox.
03:11 (1798) Black Star: "My gut instint is that Revenant is someone we should be careful about." He smiled. "I don't think we can afford the possibility of fighting each other at this juncture." Their organization was held together by a thread. "If Seventh Sun is like me, he should be predictable and rather straight forward to deal with. and as for the last one, I am not sure what to make of him." He paused, his eyes sliding towards the Red Fox. "I would love to hear it."
03:13 (1802) Red Fox: We shold be careful with all of them. I cannot stress enough how sketchy details are.
03:13 (1802) Red Fox: We don't have to engage all of the at once. It is possible to attack them seperately. As a team they respond en masse when it is clear that meta-powered individuals are perpetrating a crime. Our initial incursion should be minimal with little hint at super powers. My suggestion is that one of should take a hostage and make some demand. The rest of us lay in wait to ambush whichever members arrive.
03:13 (1802) Red Fox: (all of theM at once)
03:14 (1802) Red Fox: Keep the incident minimal enough, we should be able to overpower whoever responds.
03:16 (1798) Black Star: "agreed" he nodded as she spoke. The information was sketchy at best an underestimation at this point could very well prove fatal. His eyes slid towards her for a moment. "The plan is sound. Still, would the SSPD not be better suited to counter a simple hostage situation? It may need to be spiced up a bit." He smiled then. Of course, the most likely candidate for such an operation was himself. Talon and FM2k were too obvious, and everyone else could go invisible....
03:17 (1836) Talon: "Yes. But I can't be visible. If they see me out there, they'll all show up. It will have to be someone else."
03:17 (1802) Red Fox: I admit, my idea isn't perfect.
03:17 (1798) Black Star: "It will have to be me it seems." He paused, his eyes glancing at Talon. "you are not terribly subtle as you note and neither is your robotic companion. Mentacles, Wrath and Red Fox can all go invisible. Not much of a choice is there..."
03:18 (1734) Mentacles: (brother still on phone)
03:18 (1802) Red Fox: You wouldn't be alone, and if the situation escalated escape is always a viable choice.
03:19 (1798) Black Star: His head turned and he glanced towards Red Fox. For a moment, there was more there than just another member of a team looking at an offer given by a partner in crime. "Few ideas are. This can work. But it will have to be modified a bit." He hesitated for a moment and nodded. "I agree. I am willing to go along with this plan." He paused, his eyes darting about towards Talon and the others. "Any others?"
03:21 (1836) Talon: "Works for me. I can be hiding in reserve."
03:21 (1798) Black Star: (Art/G since SS is your setting. the SSPD has SWAT teams ne?)
03:21 (1729) gerardpaloma: (they have the same resources any other metropolitan PD would have)
03:21 (1798) Black Star: (cool beans. I figured as much. :])
03:22 (1729) gerardpaloma: (if no one else has an idea for a plan, can I make a suggestion?)
03:22 (1798) Black Star: (of course oh omnipresent authority figure!)
03:22 (1798) Black Star: (I call these sort of GM interventions "clue by four")
03:23 (1836) Talon: (SS is Gerard's setting. I had no hand in it)
03:24 (1729) gerardpaloma: (sure, you can ambush one or two of them. That may or may not work out. But what if you were to draw the whole team out, or most of them, and get an idea of what they're capable of? There would be ways of doing that without putting yourselves in danger)
03:24 (1798) Black Star: (doh. I thought you did Art. my bad. :()
03:24 (1729) gerardpaloma: (especially with a mind-fucker on the team)
03:25 (1798) Black Star: (hmm, you have a point there. it would have to be something...spectacular to draw out all of SENTINEL though ne? Not sure how to pull that off. Aly, your thoughts?)
03:26 (1734) Mentacles: (gah... multitasking...)
03:26 (1734) Mentacles: (still trying to read)
03:26 (1836) Talon: (Show up downtown and start blasting shit would probably draw them all out)
03:26 (1798) Black Star: (and let them know that a super or super(s) were doing scouting too ne? we lose the advantage of surprise.)
03:29 (1798) Black Star: (the trick is an appropriate level of force. too much, and all of SENTINEL shows up. which is bad. too little, and the SSPD handle it which is bad.)
03:30 (1798) Black Star: (what can Aly do with his mental powers? can he mind control one person at a time or muliple at once?)
03:30 (1802) Red Fox: (yes and yes)
03:31 (1729) gerardpaloma: (that's a question for Art. I'm not really clear on how mind control works. But he's a wizard at it)
03:31 (1836) Talon: (The subject is mind controlled until the duration runs out, so he could have multiple going at once)
03:31 (1798) Black Star: (if one of you guys can think of a manner that we can draw out x number of SENTINEL personnel and watch them work, without exposing ourselves I would love to hear it.)
03:32 (1798) Black Star: (the trick is that it has to be done in that manner. If they get a whiff of me or Talon or FM2k they can figure out that we are up to something. that could be a problem down the line.)
03:32 (1734) Mentacles: (I am a wizard at it yes... if they arent restant.. )
03:33 (1798) Black Star: (well, that is cool. :] but I am not seeing how taking over normals is going to help us. now, if you could go into a prison for supers and break a few out...that might work.)
03:33 (1798) Black Star: (I don't see SENTINEL "vigilantes" flexing their muscle against normals.)
03:33 (1836) Talon: (Don't look to me for ideas. I'm pretty spent from the Heretics session, so I'm just coasting)
03:34 (1798) Black Star: (it would be a PR nightmare. so unless we can get supers involved in the mix, I don't see how we are going to get anything out of calling them out.)
03:34 (1729) gerardpaloma: (I've given you all the help I'm going to. You've gotta run with it. ;))
03:34 (1798) Black Star: (*glances at art* noted. ^_~)
03:34 (1734) Mentacles: (yeah, I too am pretty much spent from Heritics)
03:35 (1798) Black Star: ("help" pshaw! :P)
03:36 (1798) Black Star: (hey, if everyone is tired we might as well call it. *shrug*)
03:36 (1840) Wraith: (im not tired, just not having any ideas.)
03:36 (1729) gerardpaloma: (well, you're welcome to go with your original idea. But if you continue on the track you're on, I'm almost positive that would work better)
03:36 (1840) Wraith: (if everyone esle wants to though, I am okay with it.)
03:37 (1729) gerardpaloma: (No one's said anything IC in a while)
03:37 (1798) Black Star: (cool beans wraith. :)
03:37 (1840) Wraith: (Hey, idea here. Would jut getting Purple Haze to come work?)
03:38 (1840) Wraith: (*just)
03:38 (1802) Red Fox: (( Favnir goes or no one goes. There is no solo work, from what I read.) ))
03:38 (1798) Black Star: (unlikely. I figure three is the magic number.)
03:38 (1729) gerardpaloma: (right)
03:38 (1840) Wraith: (Nevermind then.)
03:38 (1798) Black Star: (minimum of three, faf and two others at least.)
03:38 (1802) Red Fox: (( they learned their lesson. *stares at black star* ))
03:39 (1798) Black Star: (( whaaat? ))
03:40 (1802) Red Fox: Just be sure. We all have to be on our toes if this is going to work. We should make plans for each combination of members.
03:40 (1798) Black Star: (( other way would be two seperate two of the intangibles and send them to do stuff at opposite sides of the city. when the goodies come over, go intangible and go underground. only intangibles can follow. the rest of the group stays in another location, they can't respond to three seperate calls for help in force.)
03:41 (1840) Wraith: (I like that plan.)
03:41 (1836) Talon: (Sounds good to me)
03:41 (1802) Red Fox: (( if you want to take the chance on that working. they work as a team. they are disciplined enough to stay and not chase after "ghosts" ))
03:42 (1798) Black Star: (( yeah, that is the downside.))
03:42 (1798) Black Star: ((and since there are no other "objectives" for us to hit, it does make splitting up somewhat pointless.))
03:44 (1798) Black Star: "I agree. This is not something we can ad lib."
03:44 (1836) Talon: (I suspect we'll be fighting them all at once in any case.)
03:45 (1798) Black Star: (yup)
03:45 (1802) Red Fox: (( yeah, the gm wants us all dead. o_O ))
03:45 (1836) Talon: "So we're agreed, then?"
03:45 (1802) Red Fox: Da.
03:45 (1729) gerardpaloma: (I can neither confirm or deny. :))
03:45 (1836) Talon: (Not sure what I'm asking about being agreed to, but okay :) )
03:46 (1798) Black Star: (meh.)
03:46 (1798) Black Star: can we postpone next game until after heretics is over?
03:46 (1840) Wraith: "Yes." Wraith says, looking up from whatever she was doing, in a mournfull voice.
03:46 (1729) gerardpaloma: (that's fine by me)
03:47 (1729) gerardpaloma: (cause next session is going to be the last one, win, lose or draw. Well, maybe not draw, but you get the idea)
03:47 (1798) Black Star: (cool beans.)
03:47 (1729) gerardpaloma: (so we're done here, I take it?)
03:47 (1802) Red Fox: (( so, next bat-time, next bat- channel, then? ))
03:47 (1729) gerardpaloma: **End Session 7**
03:48 (1802) Red Fox: Well, at least I did some work. harrumph!
03:48 (1729) gerardpaloma: That was very nice work, RF.
03:48 (1802) Red Fox: Type my finely manicured fingers to the bone, and for what!
03:48 (1802) Red Fox: 8D
03:48 (1798) Black Star: lol
03:48 (1798) Black Star: *patpats RF*
03:48 (1729) gerardpaloma: Ok, so we're on hiatus until Heretics is done.
03:49 (1836) Talon: Sorry for the lack of participation. I just wasn't feeling very creative.
03:49 (1729) gerardpaloma: Which should be next week, so hopefully we can finish up in two weeks.
03:49 (1802) Red Fox: good. there's more ground for BS to cover for that last week.
03:49 (1729) gerardpaloma: Which gives you all some time to think, and talk amongst yourselves on the forum.
03:50 (1836) Talon: Before we all go, has everyone seen the post in the Campaign Talk forum, and would anyone like to voice an opinion about what the new campaigns should be?
03:50 (1798) Black Star: :] @ RF
03:50 (1802) Red Fox: I voted for HPCD and ... um ... something else.
03:50 (1798) Black Star: I have seen the post, but I have not posted in it just yet.
03:50 (1802) Red Fox: and the cross over super
03:51 (1837) Foe-Matic 2000: ERROR!
03:51 (1837) Foe-Matic 2000 (exit): 15:51
03:51 (1729) gerardpaloma: We'll do 40 SP and 20 XP for this short session, and I want everyone's sheets in my inbox at least a day before the session is actually scheduled, please. No gametime submissions will be accepted.
