09:44 (324) Nemien (enter): 09:44
09:45 (327) arthurtuxedo: heya
09:45 (324) Nemien: Hello
09:48 (327) arthurtuxedo: Just loading the files
09:50 (329) Autumn (enter): 09:50
09:51 ** (327) arthurtuxedo waves. **
09:51 (329) Autumn: Hallo.
09:51 (324) Nemien: Hello
09:51 ** (329) Autumn got freaked out for a minute because the room is up post is an hour ahead. **
09:51 (329) Autumn: The time stamp on it, anyway.
09:52 (327) arthurtuxedo: Hmm, the DST issue?
09:52 (329) Autumn: Might be.
09:52 (329) Autumn: I didn't touch it.
09:52 (329) Autumn: And it changed.
09:52 ** (329) Autumn laughs. **
09:52 (329) Autumn: It's magic!
09:54 (327) arthurtuxedo: I don't know why DST wasn't abolished decades ago. The only people it benefitted was farmers and with stadium lights, that's no longer relevant. It's just a tradition that no one knows what it's good for, but are too afraid to change it and don't see who it harms. Well, some people (like me) are very sensitive to DST and my sleep schedule goes completely to shit once DST hits and never recovers until it's removed. Makes me want to move to Arizona every time DST hits.
09:55 (324) Nemien: I agree. DST is no fun.
09:55 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
09:55 (335) Gerard Paloma (enter): 09:55
09:55 (329) Autumn: And this new system is supposed to conserve energy somehow.
09:55 (327) arthurtuxedo: Yo
09:55 (324) Nemien: Hello
09:55 (335) Gerard Paloma: Hey hey
09:56 ** (329) Autumn runs and jumps on Gerard then runs away. **
09:56 (336) Bill (enter): 09:56
09:56 ** (329) Autumn waves at Bill. **
09:56 (324) Nemien: Hi
09:56 (336) Bill: Hello.
09:56 (327) arthurtuxedo: Also, it doesn't get dark until 9:30 or 10 PM in summer thanks to DST, so anyone who tries to go to bed then can't sleep.
09:57 (329) Autumn: Only on the west coast.
09:57 (329) Autumn: In Florida it was always dark by 8.
09:57 (329) Autumn: Which is ironic considering we were two feet from the frickin' sun.
09:58 ** (329) Autumn always made sure to apply plenty of butter flavored crisco before going outside. **
09:58 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
09:58 (327) arthurtuxedo: Well anyway, every year I start complaining about DST before it hits and don't stop until after it's gone, so I won't go on at length about it.
09:58 ** (329) Autumn laughs. **
09:58 (329) Autumn: You can make yourself more flexible. It's all in your head
09:58 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
09:59 (327) arthurtuxedo: Well, not really, because it means I have to get up an hour earlier, and my body objects to that.
09:59 (329) Autumn: Tell it not to.
09:59 ** (329) Autumn grins. **
09:59 (335) Gerard Paloma: My body objects to getting up at all.
09:59 ** (329) Autumn laughs. **
10:00 (327) arthurtuxedo: Basically, if I was getting 8 hours of sleep before DST, I get 7 during. If I was getting 7 before, I get 6 during. It's actually a huge problem for me.
10:00 (329) Autumn: Maybe it's not quantity of sleep so much as quality.
10:01 (329) Autumn: That or go to bed earlier.
10:01 (329) Autumn: But some people just have to have something to complain about.
10:01 ** (329) Autumn grins and ducks. **
10:02 (327) arthurtuxedo: I just can't force my body's sleep cycle to obey my wishes like most people seem to be able to.
10:02 ** (329) Autumn reiterates mind over matter. **
10:02 (327) arthurtuxedo: One little change and I'm completely out of whack forever.
10:03 (327) arthurtuxedo: And you would think that after a few months I would get used to the new time, but I don't. It could be DST for 25 years, and I'd never get used to it.
10:03 (329) Autumn: That's because you fight it. You expect it to be shit so you don't let it not be shit. ;o)
10:04 (327) arthurtuxedo: OK, whatever you say. Shall we get on to the game?
10:05 (329) Autumn: Sure. ;o)
10:05 (324) Nemien: Yes.
10:05 (335) Gerard Paloma: I suppose so.
10:05 (336) Tom: Yah
10:06 ** (329) Autumn remembers she's unconscious and cripled. **
10:06 (329) Autumn: Wait. Where's Corran?
10:06 (329) Autumn: Did he back out and I missed it?
10:06 (329) Autumn: Er..CorSec..whatever.
10:07 (327) arthurtuxedo: Umm... good question. Maybe he's running late.
10:08 (329) Autumn: He makes it sound like he's stealing his internets sometimes. Maybe that fell through.
10:08 ** (329) Autumn laughs. **
10:09 (327) arthurtuxedo: Hehe, maybe.
10:11 (329) Autumn: You know, you'd think after knowing him for almost seven years, I'd have his phone number.
10:12 (327) arthurtuxedo: He plays hard to get :)
10:12 (329) Autumn: I'm not a lesbian.
10:13 (327) arthurtuxedo: That was random. I'm not a crustacean.
10:13 ** (329) Autumn laughs. **
10:13 (335) John: Damn. Another fantasy dispelled!
10:13 (329) Autumn: No, I mean, I'm not a lesbian so he won't give me his number.
10:13 (329) Autumn: He only lets lesbians call him.
10:13 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
10:13 (327) arthurtuxedo: Maybe he's seen Chasing Amy too many times.
10:14 (329) Autumn: Well, he's in good company, then.
10:14 ** (329) Autumn coughs and points at GP. **
10:14 (335) John: What? I've only seen it like 3 or 4 times. I've seen Star Wars a lot more than that.
10:14 (329) Autumn: Three or four times is too much. ;o)
10:15 (335) John: Yeah, yeah, whatever.
10:15 (329) Autumn: He's probably in jail.
10:15 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
10:15 (329) Autumn: He wasn't doing anything important was he?
10:15 (327) arthurtuxedo: The upside of converting a lesbian is that you don't have to compete with previous guys.
10:16 (329) Autumn: No, but you have to learn to wear strap-ons.
10:16 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (324) Nemien...
10:16 (327) arthurtuxedo: That's the downside
10:16 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (329) Autumn...
10:16 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (335) John...
10:16 (329) Autumn: And chastity belts.
10:16 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (336) Tom...
10:16 ** (329) Autumn laughs. **
10:17 (327) arthurtuxedo: Alright, well he can join later.
10:17 (327) arthurtuxedo: ANNOUNCER VOICE: Previously, on Red Beams Over Broadway...
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: After the helicopter crashed, the group finds many of their number dead or incapitated and in the middle of gang territory. Nemien spotted a few gang soldiers, who called for help and have now taken cover as the group gathered their weapons. A tense standoff has begun, neither side making contact, but neither having fired a shot either.
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: Injuries stand as follows:
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: Autumn: Critical, KO'd. Crippled right leg.
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: Tom: Damaged left arm (-5). Hurt (-1).
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: John: Hurt left shoulder (-1). Damaged right leg (-5). Hurt (-1).
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: Marshall: Right ankle useless. Wounded (-2, cannot sprint).
10:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: Nemien: No injuries.
10:20 (327) arthurtuxedo: * * * Session 4 Begin * * *
10:21 (327) arthurtuxedo: With no clear leader, the gangsters more or less sit there, looking menacing but unwilling to make a move. They outnumber the group significantly, but they seem to be aware that Nemien in particular looks to have much better equipment than them. (Characters can roll Education to recall which gang they belong to).
10:22 (327) arthurtuxedo: Among the first group, most carry only pistols, though the reinforcements seem to have mostly AK and M-16 rifles.
10:23 (336) Tom: "What's the odds that these clowns are friendly?"
10:23 (327) arthurtuxedo: Many of them are shirtless, and only a few sport body armor.
10:23 (335) John: John attempts to determine what gang they belong to. [1d10+23-1] -> [7,23,-1] = (29)
10:23 (327) arthurtuxedo: They do seem to have a rudimentary grasp of tactics, however, as they have chosen good cover.
10:24 (336) Tom: (( do we have electrical power? And can we get a minigun to bear? ))
10:24 ** (329) Autumn dreams of electric sheep. **
10:25 whispering to John, Judging by where the chopper crashed and some of the colors they're wearing, these are probably the West Mariposa vipers. They are not small time, but not one of the big players, either. They're known to be violent and shrewd, but lack access to heavy military equipment.
10:25 (327) arthurtuxedo: (The chopper came to rest on its side, so the accessible minigun is pointed toward the sky)
10:26 ** (329) Autumn also dreams of her childhood, happier times with her sister, Summer. **
10:26 (335) John: "They're not friendly, but they don't have any serious hardware."
10:27 (335) John: (haha, sister Summer)
10:27 (329) Autumn: (( They're twins. ;o) ))
10:27 (324) Nemien: "We should attack now, before more reinforcements come."
10:28 (335) John: "I agree. I would say we could try talking to them, but I can't think of anything to say that they'd listen to."
10:29 (336) Tom: "Us and what army? Most of us are some degree of injured. And we're outnumbered."
10:30 (324) Nemien: "So? I can kill all of them. If you're afraid, just watch."
10:31 (336) Tom: "Just letting you know some of us are only human. I'll fight."
10:32 (329) Autumn: (( Nemien, our handy dandy people shredder. Awww. ))
10:32 (327) arthurtuxedo: Autumn awakes with a start. The first thing she feels is large amounts of pain all over.
10:32 ** (329) Autumn wakes with a start. **
10:33 ** (329) Autumn realizes she's in a shit-ton of pain. **
10:33 ** (329) Autumn gingerly touches her face and feels rather horrified at what she finds with her fingertips. **
10:33 ** (324) Nemien looks out at the gangsters through her wrist camera. (How many targets does she see?) **
10:34 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Spot roll)
10:35 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Does anyone have boosted hearing?)
10:35 (324) Nemien: [1d10+15] -> [6,15] = (21)(Yes.)
10:35 (329) Autumn: (( I don't. ))
10:35 (324) Nemien: (wait, actually no.)
10:35 (335) John: (nope)
10:35 (327) arthurtuxedo: Nemien spots 15.
10:36 ** (329) Autumn ((is contemplating what sexy Mileena style outfit she'll get to sport now that half her face is gone.)) **
10:36 (336) Tom: (( only audio filters... Couldn't afford the enhanced hearing... ))
10:37 (327) arthurtuxedo: (As far as I remember, she only took a knock to the head. Don't remember anything about half her face being gone)
10:37 (329) Autumn: (( Isn't her jaw shattered badly? ))
10:38 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Just 1 or 2 points of damage shy of it being mangled. Hairline fractures, only)
10:38 (329) Autumn: (( Oh. Nevermind, then. ))
10:39 (327) arthurtuxedo: (The right leg is the main concern. Without John's care, it won't ever be the same again)
10:39 (329) Autumn: (( Yeah, but he's busy right now. ))
10:39 (324) Nemien: Nemien fires one shot at 6 different targets with her rifle. (6 shots, 6 wasted bullets for switching to a new target, right? Targeted general headshots.)[1d10+17] -> [9,17] = (26)[2d10+20] -> [4,2,20] = (26)[2d10+20] -> [1,5,20] = (26)[2d10+20] -> [10,9,20] = (39)[2d10+20] -> [1,3,20] = (24)[2d10+20] -> [5,5,20] = (30)
10:39 ** (329) Autumn feels in her pockets for her caffeine pills and pops a couple when she finds the bottle. **
10:40 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Close, but you can't call shots on full auto)
10:40 ** (329) Autumn sees the thugs coming to them and automatically reaches for her glock. **
10:41 (327) arthurtuxedo: Gangsters' cover: [1d20+20] -> [3,20] = (23)
10:41 (336) Tom: (( Is there a firing position in the cockpit? ))
10:41 (329) Autumn: (( Out the busted window? ))
10:41 (327) arthurtuxedo: (You could fire from where the windshield used to be)
10:42 (324) Nemien: (Oh. Heh. [2d10+22] -> [6,8,22] = (36)[2d10+25] -> [6,2,25] = (33)[2d10+25] -> [4,1,25] = (30)[2d10+25] -> [7,7,25] = (39)[2d10+25] -> [1,9,25] = (35)[2d10+25] -> [9,6,25] = (40) That good?)
10:43 (336) Tom: (( OK. ))
10:44 (327) arthurtuxedo: Nemien opens fire on full auto with her massive rifle, spitting magnum rifle rounds at a high rate of fire. The armor piercing rounds could be used against light armored vehicles and find no obstacle from the gangsters' cover. All six of them take a single round to the chest, blowing them wide open.
10:45 (327) arthurtuxedo: Round 1
10:45 (327) arthurtuxedo: Gangsters' init [1d10 + 16] -> [5,16] = (21)
10:45 (329) Autumn: [1d10+11] -> [7,11] = (18)
10:46 (324) Nemien: [2d10+24] -> [10,10,24] = (44)
10:46 (336) Tom: [1d10+16] -> [4,16] = (20)
10:46 (324) Nemien: [44+1d10+1d10] -> [44,4,6] = (54)
10:46 (329) Autumn: (( Am I thrown from the heli or inside with Tom? ))
10:46 (327) arthurtuxedo: (There were two 10's in there, roll another)
10:46 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Inside)
10:46 (327) arthurtuxedo: Remaining soldiers' init [1d10 + 18] -> [2,18] = (20)
10:46 (329) Autumn: (( Goodly, I had her position correct. ))
10:46 (324) Nemien: (er, I did.)
10:46 (335) John: [1d10+15] -> [9,15] = (24)
10:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Oh, I see)
10:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: 1. Nemien
10:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: 2. John
10:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: 3. Gangsters
10:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: 4. Tom, soldiers
10:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: 5. Autumn
10:48 (329) Autumn: (( How many soldiers are there? ))
10:49 ** (324) Nemien fires again, hiding behind cover and using her wrist camera to shoot. (6 targets. [2d10+22] -> [9,10,22] = (41)[2d10+25] -> [5,8,25] = (38)[2d10+25] -> [9,3,25] = (37)[2d10+25] -> [8,3,25] = (36)[2d10+25] -> [8,7,25] = (40)[2d10+25] -> [4,3,25] = (32)) **
10:49 (336) Tom: (( 9+, after Nemien's first round of chaos. ))
10:49 (324) Nemien: [41+1d10] -> [41,6] = (47)
10:53 (327) arthurtuxedo: (You can only fire from behind full cover with a pistol or similar sized weapon. Impossible with a rifle, especially one that size)
10:53 (324) Nemien: (Ok. No cover then.)
10:54 (327) arthurtuxedo: Nemien continues her killing hail of bullets. 2 more go down without even having known what hit them, and she's just getting started.
10:54 (327) arthurtuxedo: (John's turn)
10:55 (335) John: (Are they exposed at all, or entirely behind cover?
10:56 (327) arthurtuxedo: (They're in firing positions from cover, so the right sides of their faces and their right arms and weapons are exposed.
10:56 (335) John: (So I could attempt, like 3 shot bursts to the face?)
10:56 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Yep)
10:56 (335) John: (ok)
10:56 (329) Autumn: (( Nothing like a doctor that maims. ))
10:57 (335) John: John pops up and attempt to put 3 bullets in the face of the nearest gangbanger. [1d10+14-1] -> [9,14,-1] = (22)
10:58 (327) arthurtuxedo: DF = 15 + 2 range + 5 head, [15+2+5] -> 22
10:59 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Wait, what's he using? I don't see a weapon on his char sheet)
10:59 (335) John: (P90, it should be there)
10:59 (329) Autumn: (( If invisible guns count, I want a cat launcher. ))
11:00 (335) John: (Can't you see it? It's there.)
11:00 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Redownloaded from the site and... not there. Did you forget to upload?)
11:00 (335) John: (It's possible, however unlikely.)
11:01 (329) Autumn: (( It's not on the sheet you sent me either. ))
11:01 (335) John: (Ok, it's there now)
11:01 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Well, while you get that sorted out, roll 1d20 for pinpoint location)
11:01 (335) John: [1d20] -> [3] = (3)
11:02 (335) John: (sonofa)
11:02 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Glancing doesn't really say whether it's left or right side, so 1d2)
11:02 (335) John: [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
11:04 (327) arthurtuxedo: John lines up the target expertly and puts a short 3 round burst in the direction of his head, but it's just an inch too far to the left, and hits the engine block instead.
11:05 (327) arthurtuxedo: Panicking at the onslaught, the gangsters start to beat a hasty retreat, running for their lives.
11:05 (329) Autumn: (( Pussies. ))
11:05 (329) Autumn: (( Like Nemien would kill them all or something. ))
11:05 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Tom's turn)
11:06 (327) arthurtuxedo: The three remaining soldiers grab their weapons and head for the cockpit.
11:06 ** (336) Tom settles into a firing position with his HK, getting ready to start shooting **
11:06 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Autumn's turn)
11:07 ** (329) Autumn aims her previously pulled glock at the nearest retreater and fires. **
11:07 (329) Autumn: [1d10+11] -> [8,11] = (19)
11:07 (329) Autumn: [1d20] -> [1] = (1)
11:07 (327) arthurtuxedo: (1d10 first, then the 1d20)
11:07 (336) Tom: (( for the future, since the rifle is a two handed weapon, is it -5 due to the injured wrist? ))
11:07 (329) Autumn: [1d10] -> [7] = (7)
11:07 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Yep)
11:09 (327) arthurtuxedo: (We're ignoring that first d20 since it was out of sequence, (and because a glancing hit isn't very entertaining) roll another)
11:09 (329) Autumn: [1d20] -> [5] = (5)
11:10 (327) arthurtuxedo: Autumn puts a bullet in the fleeing man's back. Its hollowpoint nature and his lack of body armor leads to parts of many of the organs in his upper torso ending up on the ground in front of him. He falls face first in the dirt and doesn't move again.
11:10 (335) John: (pwned(
11:10 (329) Autumn: (( Owies. ))
11:11 (327) arthurtuxedo: With her finger firmly on the trigger, Nemien continues mowing down fleeing combatants, until there is only one left.
11:11 (327) arthurtuxedo: Round 3
11:11 (327) arthurtuxedo: Don't bother with initiative
11:12 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Nobody does anything?)
11:12 (327) arthurtuxedo: Round 4
11:12 (327) arthurtuxedo: The man continues running
11:12 (327) arthurtuxedo: Range 40 meters
11:12 ** (336) Tom settles his aim on the runner **
11:13 (335) John: (I'm not going to shoot a man in the back)
11:13 (324) Nemien: Nemien fires at the man.
11:13 (329) Autumn: (( I figured Nemien would want to kill off everyone. ))
11:13 (327) arthurtuxedo: Nemien puts a single shot through the back of the fleeing man's head. It practically explodes.
11:14 (327) arthurtuxedo: End Combat
11:14 whispering to arthurtuxedo, Reliability rolls, [1d100] -> [100] = (100) [1d100] -> [50] = (50) [1d100] -> [17] = (17) [1d100] -> [52] = (52) [1d100] -> [36] = (36)
11:14 ** (329) Autumn holsters her gun. **
11:15 (329) Autumn: (( So all the bad guys are gone for now, right? ))
11:15 (336) Tom: "That was breif..."
11:16 (324) Nemien: "See? I told you they would all die."
11:16 (327) arthurtuxedo: (All gone)
11:16 (329) Autumn: I wonder if we could get a taxi out here.
11:16 (329) Autumn: Or some morphine.
11:16 (329) Autumn: Massive amounts of it.
11:16 ** (329) Autumn whimpers in John's general direction. **
11:17 (327) arthurtuxedo: (The chopper can be exited from the cockpit's windows or by hoisting oneself out of the skyward opening and then climbing down.)
11:17 (329) Autumn: (( Says you. ))
11:17 ** (335) John rummages in his bag. **
11:17 (329) Autumn: (( Somehow I don't think Autumn moving is a very good idea right at the moment. ))
11:17 ** (329) Autumn thinks Marshall will make a decent mule. **
11:18 (335) John: (we can jump up and down until the chopper dislodges and crashes the rest of the way to the ground)
11:18 (329) Autumn: (( How far off the ground is it? ))
11:18 (336) Tom: (( I'll be leaving through the cockpit, I think. ))
11:18 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Ah yes, forgot that it's suspended. So you can also climb out the bottom and crawl under the vehicle. It's about 1 meter from the ground)
11:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Of course, if you go out that way and it dislodges, you'll be crushed)
11:19 (329) Autumn: (( It'll be like Jurassic Park! ))
11:19 (329) Autumn: (( Except it's Tom not Tim! ))
11:19 (329) Autumn: (( "Go go go go Tom! Go!" ))
11:20 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Yes, but not the scene where the truck comes crashing down and they narrowly escape. The scene where the T-rex eats the guy on the toilet)
11:20 (329) Autumn: (( That makes me want to watch that kid that does reenactments now. ))
11:21 ** (324) Nemien climbs up out of the copper, looking for more people, who, given an excuse, she can shoot at. (Radar and sonar vision, x-ray vision, and normal vision.[1d10+15] -> [4,15] = (19)) **
11:21 ** (336) Tom hauls himself out of the cockpit via the missing windscreen, rifle slung on one shoulder **
11:21 ** (329) Autumn looks at John. **
11:21 (329) Autumn: Can I move with my leg the way it is?
11:21 (329) Autumn: What's my status?
11:21 (329) Autumn: Can I have lots of drugs?
11:22 ** (329) Autumn will love you long time for drugs. **
11:22 (335) John: (Autumn's status hasn't changed, has it? Medic roll?)
11:22 (327) arthurtuxedo: The soldiers climb out and set up as best of a defensive perimeter as they can with so few people.
11:23 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Right, so we havne't had any medics before and therefore I haven't really explained in detail what a medic can do. With a successful roll, you can upgrade someone's condition by 1 state, stop bleeding, and heal crippled limbs as long as too much time hasn't passed)
11:23 (327) arthurtuxedo: (With an AT like John's, I wouldn't worry about rolls being unsuccessful)
11:23 (329) Autumn: (( Sweet. ))
11:23 (335) John: (ok, so I'm going to try to fix her leg first)
11:24 (329) Autumn: (( Work your magic, baby! ))
11:24 (335) John: "Quiet. Let me see what I can do." [1d10+44] -> [10,44] = (54)
11:24 (335) John: (shit, I fucked it up, even, but I'm guessing it doesn't matter)
11:24 (327) arthurtuxedo: (That would actually be 4d10 + 44 under the new rules)
11:25 (329) Autumn: (( Good grief. ))
11:25 (335) John: [4d10+48] -> [3,7,4,4,48] = (66)
11:25 (335) John: (forgot about the modifier to my medic skill)
11:26 (327) arthurtuxedo: Working quickly, John has her bones and tendons set to heal properly within minutes. [1d6] -> [5] = (5) minutes.
11:26 ** (329) Autumn watches John work, impressed by his skills. **
11:26 (335) John: (Can I try to upgrade her condition, too?)
11:26 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Right leg upgraded to Useless, still unusable for now, but will heal fully)
11:27 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Yep)
11:27 (329) Autumn: (( Make her quiet, more subservient, etc. ;o) ))
11:27 (335) John: [4d10+48] -> [4,3,8,3,48] = (66)
11:27 (329) Autumn: (( You and your demon sixes. ))
11:27 (335) John: (fuckin a)
11:28 (327) arthurtuxedo: Dispensing medication and treatment to other areas, John manages to make a lot of the pain and injury go away. Status upgraded to Wounded (-2).
11:28 ** (329) Autumn suspected John was worthy of respect upon first meeting him and was certain of it now. **
11:28 (335) John: "Better?"
11:28 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
11:28 (329) Autumn: Much. Thank you.
11:28 (335) John: "Good. Now we just need to get you out of safely. Marshall, help me."
11:29 (327) arthurtuxedo: The three surviving soldiers are all Privates, they look at each other and the group, trying to figure out who should be in charge.
11:29 (329) Autumn: (( Who's been in longest? ))
11:29 (324) Nemien: (In the army?)
11:30 (329) Autumn: (( I would think that the most senior Private would sort of convene with whoever is the leader of the group. ))
11:30 (329) Autumn: (( They might lean towards Tom because he can fly the chopper and probably has a military background. ))
11:31 (327) arthurtuxedo: One of the soldiers clears his throat. "So, seeing as how we seem to be deep in unfriendly territory with no way of contacting HQ, or even knowing what or where HQ is, we need to decide on a chain of command."
11:32 (329) Autumn: Well, Nemien is our gunner...John is our medic...Marshall is a chicken shit...I'm immobile...
11:32 (335) John: (Yeah, it's the chain I get and beat you with until you understand who's in rutting command, here)
11:32 (336) Tom: "Don't look at me. I just fly helecopters. I know little about commanding on the ground."
11:32 ** (329) Autumn looks at Tom. **
11:33 (329) Autumn: (( In all reality, Marshall might have a shot at being tactical minded, but he's not here, so... ))
11:33 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Who has military experience? Us three have all been in only a year or so."
11:34 (329) Autumn: I have military experience, but not the kind you're looking for.
11:34 ** (329) Autumn looks at John. **
11:34 (329) Autumn: Did you get your training in a military of any sort?
11:35 (335) John: "Well, yes, but I never saw combat. I was a field surgeon."
11:35 (329) Autumn: Then I'd wager you saw plenty of combat. At least, the after effects.
11:36 (329) Autumn: You could at least tell them where to shoot.
11:36 (335) John: "I suppose. But I don't have any tactical experience."
11:37 (329) Autumn: Between you and Tom, we might be able to fudge it.
11:37 (329) Autumn: And you can always get the input of the real soldiers.
11:38 (329) Autumn: That or just agree to let Nemien slaughter everyone and let the rest of us pick up the pieces.
11:38 (329) Autumn: Either way, I'd put her at point.
11:38 ** (336) Tom nods **
11:39 (324) Nemien: "Works for me."
11:39 (329) Autumn: Stick me and Marshall in the middle of the group like herd animals do with their young, let Tom and the soliders take up the rear.
11:39 (329) Autumn: Keep John in the middle too because we need him alive.
11:39 (327) arthurtuxedo: The soldiers don't appear comfortable with the situation, but do not protest.
11:40 (327) arthurtuxedo: (John can give medical care to everyone else and upgrade their status, too. It just takes 1d6 minutes for each attempt)
11:40 (329) Autumn: (( Can he self-medic? ))
11:40 (335) John: "Instead of standing around here talking all day, I think we should try to find safer ground."
11:40 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Yes, but there's a -4 penalty for that)
11:41 (329) Autumn: I agree with that. The busted chopper is going to draw attention.
11:41 (329) Autumn: (( And so they move into the jungle and become as savages with the wild. ))
11:41 (336) Tom: "And SAR ain't going to show up with the situation as bad as it is."
11:42 (329) Autumn: No one is going to show up.
11:42 (329) Autumn: We're likely on our own for quite a bit.
11:42 (329) Autumn: Just don't take Nemien on hunts. We'd like to have full animals returned, not shreds.
11:43 (329) Autumn: (( Did the copter have a make-shift stretcher or a regular stretcher on it to cart Autumn around on? ))
11:44 (329) Autumn: (( Or one of those baby backpacks but huge to strap on Marshall? ;o) ))
11:44 (327) arthurtuxedo: (One could be improvised)
11:44 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Could take a backpack from one of the dead soldiers.)
11:45 (329) Autumn: (( I don't think that'd be big enough, but it might have decent supplies in it. ))
11:45 (329) Autumn: We should get everything of use out of the helicopter, just in case.
11:46 whispering to arthurtuxedo, Do the gangsters counter-attack or leave well enough alone? 1=attack, 2=observe [1d2] -> [1] = (1)
11:46 whispering to arthurtuxedo, How many minutes? [10d6] -> [3,4,3,1,1,3,6,6,5,3] = (35)
11:47 ** (324) Nemien goes and loots the copter, and everything inside of it. She also picks up the dead grunts' guns, and any ammo they had. **
11:48 (327) arthurtuxedo: A lot of what was inside the chopper is scattered around the area and / or broken, but there are still usable items. Many of the soldiers were wearing their body armor and carrying their guns, and some of them had their knapsacks.
11:50 (327) arthurtuxedo: Making a pile of useful stuff, there are [1d6] -> [6] = (6) intact suits of Level 3 Body Armor, [1d6] -> [5] = (5) working M8 rifles with [3d6] -> [3,6,4] = (13) mags of ammo, [2d6] -> [1,3] = (4) frag grenades, some basic medical supplies, and enough food for [1d4+2] -> [2,2] = (4) days.
11:51 (327) arthurtuxedo: There are also the miniguns, although they would be very difficult to transport.
11:52 (336) Tom: (( minigun ammo? ))
11:52 (335) John: John's already armored up, but he takes an M8 and some ammo, and replenishes his medic bag.
11:54 ** (329) Autumn has the food put on her stretcher with her so she can make sure the food doesn't get asploded. **
11:54 (327) arthurtuxedo: (The ammo is in the chopper, there are about 10,000 rounds)
11:54 ** (336) Tom takes a pack, 3 magazines of 5.56 NATO. **
11:54 (336) Tom: (( 7.62 NATO, right? ))
11:55 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Right)
11:55 (324) Nemien: Nemien takes the a M8 rifle, if there are any left, and the rest of the ammo when everyone else is done.
11:55 (336) Tom: (( no good for me. ))
11:55 (327) arthurtuxedo: (It would have to be de-belted anyway. Very time consuming)
11:56 (327) arthurtuxedo: The process of looting the chopper has taken about 20 minutes. Still no sight of any gangsters.
11:57 (329) Autumn: We should probably get moving.
11:58 (327) arthurtuxedo: Looking around, the group finds themselves in a residential area, although it looks to have been abandoned. All the houses are in decay and looted, except the ones used by gangsters as flophouses.
11:58 (336) Tom: "Where are we going boss?"
11:59 (329) Autumn: (( Sounds like GP's neighborhood. ))
11:59 (327) arthurtuxedo: There's a freeway to the north and a run down baseball diamond a few blocks to the south-west.
11:59 (335) John: (it's not _that_ bad)
12:00 (327) arthurtuxedo: To the south is a multi-story hotel that looks dilapidated, but with no way to tell whether it's inhabited.
12:00 ** (329) Autumn looks at the hotel. **
12:00 (329) Autumn: Well...it might have food stores.
12:01 (329) Autumn: Clean out the vermin...might make a decent hq.
12:02 (329) Autumn: Stick Nemien on the top floor to do away with anyone coming for a visit.
12:03 (336) Tom: "Alright, sounds like an plan. Shall we get going?"
12:04 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Sir, yes, sir!" chorus the soldiers.
12:05 ** (324) Nemien moves to the front of the group, and sets out for the hotel, rifle at ready, scanning for enemies. **
12:06 ** (336) Tom acts as a stretcher bearer **
12:10 (327) arthurtuxedo: The group makes slow progress toward the hotel. It does seem to be occupied, but it is hard to tell by whom. There is a fence around the perimeter with an opening where the street turns into the parking lot. There seem to be some light fortifications and a few people milling about. They don't seem to have spotted the group yet.
12:12 (336) Tom: "Alright. I guess we should take cover and send someone out for a recce."
12:12 ** (329) Autumn nods. **
12:13 (336) Tom: "Volunteers?"
12:13 (324) Nemien: "I will scout them."
12:14 (336) Tom: "OK. We'll take positions to cover you if it all goes in the pot."
12:16 (324) Nemien: Right, Nemiens expression says, and you will do this, how?
12:16 (329) Autumn: (( We'll offer emotional support! ))
12:17 ** (336) Tom shrugs **
12:18 ** (324) Nemien activates her chameleon armor, and goes to take a look at the hotel.(Do I just roll stealth, or ninjisu? What are the modifier for chameleon armor?) **
12:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Ninjitsu)
12:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: (And I'll have to check on that second one. Been a while)
12:22 (327) arthurtuxedo: (It's +15)
12:23 (324) Nemien: [2d10+22] -> [4,3,22] = (29)
12:24 (327) arthurtuxedo: (It's +15 to the end result, you don't get to roll 2d10's :) )
12:25 (324) Nemien: (ah. [1d10+7+15] -> [7,7,15] = (29)
12:25 (327) arthurtuxedo: [1d10 + 10 + 1d10 + 5] -> [10,10,10,5] = (35)
12:26 (327) arthurtuxedo: [35 + 1d10] -> [35,9] = (44)
12:28 (327) arthurtuxedo: Even with help from her camouflage, Nemien is not well versed in staying unseen, and is spotted at 100 meters. The guards take cover behind their positions. One speaks over the megaphone. "Whoever goes there can pack up and go, we won't let our homes be looted!"
12:29 (329) Autumn: (( I'll brb. ))
12:31 ** (324) Nemien lheads for cover. [1d3] -> [1] = (1) **
12:31 (335) John: (these people obviously can't be reasoned with. Better open fire)
12:31 (324) Nemien: [1d10+10] -> [3,10] = (13)
12:32 (335) John: (how far away are we from them?)
12:32 (335) John: (I'm guessing too far to shout and have them hear us)
12:33 (324) Nemien: (How many targets are there?)
12:33 (327) arthurtuxedo: (Nemien is 100 meters away, the rest are 120)
12:34 (336) Tom: (( I think it is time to use diplomacy and tact, not guns... ))
12:35 (327) arthurtuxedo: (There look to be 5. They have basic body armor and rifles, and there are two machine gun emplacements. They are behind makeshift concrete bunkers with only a small firing slit, so only a called shot or lucky random hit will hit them)
12:35 (335) John: John gives shouting a try. "We're not here to loot anyone, we're just looking for safe haven."
12:36 (327) arthurtuxedo: Listeners' alertness: [1d10 + 10 + 1d10 - 15] -> [5,10,8,-15] = (8)
12:36 (327) arthurtuxedo: They look at each other, but it doesn't seem like any of them heard what John said.
12:37 (335) John: John tries a different tact. He pulls some bandaging from his bag and fashions a makeshit white flag to wave.
12:38 ** (329) Autumn hopes that might work. **
12:38 (327) arthurtuxedo: The guards discuss amongst themselves a while longer. Finally, the megaphone booms once again. "One of you can come to talk to us. No weapons, and no sneaky stuff!"
12:39 ** (335) John looks at the others. **
12:39 (335) John: "Any volunteers?"
12:40 (329) Autumn: You got us this far. You can get us farther.
12:40 (336) Tom: "I suppose I should go... John's too valuble as a doctor."
12:40 (329) Autumn: That's true too.
12:42 ** (336) Tom start getting ready to go, removing his pistol from his holster **
12:43 (336) Tom: "Here, look after this."
12:43 ** (336) Tom hands it over to Autumn. **
12:43 ** (329) Autumn takes it and keeps it safe. **
12:44 ** (336) Tom places his HK53 and magazine poutches by the pack he was carrying and stands up with his hands in the air. **
12:47 (327) arthurtuxedo: The next few minutes are tense as Tom walks with his hands up toward the hotel, feeling acutely that he could be ripped apart at any second if someone makes a false move. Reaching the area, two of the guards comes out and quickly move him behind the barricade where they pat him down. Satisfied, a man in his early 40's approaches. "I'm sure you have questions for us, but first tell me what you want with our hotel?"
12:47 (329) Autumn: (( We want to make it into a brothel. Nemien will be our Madame. ))
12:48 (336) Tom: "Shelter and somewhere to treat our injured."
12:52 (327) arthurtuxedo: He nods slowly. "Fair enough. You were on that chopper that crashed?"
12:52 (336) Tom: "Yeah. Not my best landing ever."
12:53 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Then you can tell us what the hell's going on in Manhattan? Sounds like World War 4 over there!"
12:54 (336) Tom: "Pretty much. There's an army of robots assaulting the island, and they seem to be winning."
12:56 (327) arthurtuxedo: He scratches his beard. "Hmm. What do they want. Will they come here next?"
12:57 (336) Tom: "Don't know to both. I wasn't told much, and it all seemed to come out of the blue to me."
12:58 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Damn. Well, here's the story mister..." he waits for Tom to give his name.
12:58 (336) Tom: "Tom Whiting"
01:02 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Ben Fillmore." He shakes hands (unless Tom pulls away). "Anyway, we're trying to live our lives here in this hotel without being preyed on by the gangs. We start sheltering people they're fighting and, well, that's just not a risk I'm willing to take for nothing. What can you offer me in return for giving you a place to rest?"
01:03 (336) Tom: "Not much. I'm sure that all our able bodied people will help fight, but we don't have much food or ammunition with us."
01:08 (327) arthurtuxedo: "You'll help us fight, you say, but there won't be a fight if we don't take you in. The gangs have never had enough reason to bother us before considering all the trouble they know we'd give 'em. You bring me weapons or equipment I can't get elsewhere and I'll think about it, otherwise you've got my sympathy, and that's about it."
01:09 (336) Tom: (( Any ideas? ))
01:10 (329) Autumn: (( Nemien is weapons and equipment you can't just get anywhere what with her shiny personality. ))
01:10 (329) Autumn: (( And John IS a really good doctor. ))
01:10 (335) John: (he could have the miniguns off the chopper, I suppose. Mount em up.)
01:12 (336) Tom: "There are the miniguns off the helicopter, and several thousand rounds of ammunition. Besides that, we have a damn good doctor."
01:12 (336) Tom: "We'd have to go back to the crash site for the miniguns and ammo, though."
01:13 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Well hell, why didn't you say so? Ammo ain't hard to come by, but a couple of big ass Jesse Ventura miniguns would come in real handy! Bring us those bad boys and you can stay as long as you want!"
01:13 (335) John: (lol)
01:14 (336) Tom: "Sure. Got anyone who can help us haul the guns and ammo over here?"
01:14 (327) arthurtuxedo: "Yeah, I'll call up some of my off-duty boys."
01:15 (336) Tom: "Great."
01:15 (327) arthurtuxedo: "They'll meet you at the crash site, but you better get on over there in the mean time, else looters'll have their way with your stuff before you can give it to us."
01:16 (336) Tom: "Ok, I'll be off then."
01:16 ** (336) Tom turns and starts heading back to the group **
01:16 (327) arthurtuxedo: Tom gets back to the group and brings the news. The crash site is only a couple of blocks away.
01:17 (327) arthurtuxedo: * * * End Session 4 * * *
01:17 (327) arthurtuxedo: 15 XP, running total of 45.
01:17 (335) John: wot
01:17 (335) John: woot
01:17 (329) Autumn: Yay!
01:17 (327) arthurtuxedo: How did I know you guys were going to open fire on the gangsters without provocation? You're a violent bunch.
01:18 (324) Nemien: cool
01:18 (335) Gerard Paloma: They started...uh, they, uh...they looked at us funny.
01:18 (329) Nikoda: I heard one sneeze wrong.
01:18 (336) Bill: Well, the consensus was that they were up to no good... And then Nemien opened fire...
01:18 (324) Nemien: they were breathing loudly
01:19 (329) Nikoda: Besides, all Autumn knew was that she was out then people were getting shot at so...assumed enemy.
01:19 (327) arthurtuxedo: Uh huh. Because standard operating procedure when you crash land in unknown and possibly hostile territory is to open fire on the first locals you see. :)
01:19 (329) Nikoda: That's what science fiction has taught us.
01:20 ** (329) Nikoda nods. **
01:20 (324) Nemien: we tried diploma-, not shooting them first, and they ran away
01:20 (336) Bill: Our characters are all still alive, and thats all that really matters to them.
01:21 (335) Gerard Paloma: Yeah, not dying is a powerful motivator.
01:22 (327) arthurtuxedo: All I can say is you're lucky they're not one of the big time gangs that has real military equipment.
01:23 (327) arthurtuxedo: Nemien may be death incarnate against light infantry, but there's not much she can do against an artillery barrage.
01:24 (336) Bill: Nor armour, I guess.
01:25 (327) arthurtuxedo: Her rifle could take down a light armored vehicle, but nothing too heavy.
01:26 (327) arthurtuxedo: Anyway, I'll see you guys next week.
01:26 (336) Bill: bye
01:26 (324) Nemien: See ya
01:26 ** (329) Nikoda is off too! **
01:26 (336) Bill: Sleep is for the weak! Well, I guess I'm weak.
01:26 (336) Bill (exit): 13:26
01:26 (329) Nikoda: Catch you later!
01:26 (329) Nikoda: If sex is a pain in the ass, you're doing it wrong.
01:26 (329) Nikoda (exit): 13:26
01:26 (324) Nemien: Darkness comes darkness falls, darkness takes us all.
01:26 (324) Nemien (exit): 13:26
