10:01 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (1719) Gerard Paloma...

10:02 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (1701) Nemien...
10:05 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Alright, got all my files open. Has anyone taken a look at the section of the sourcebook that's been posted?
10:06 ** (1725) Autumn looks guilty. **
10:06 (1725) Autumn: Not really.
10:07 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Relevant changes for this campaign are mostly a concern for the GM rather than the players, but I thought I'd go through them anyway.
10:07 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Damage thresholds and effects have been changed, especially for debilitating hits
10:08 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Not so much for normal locations
10:08 (1725) Autumn: Like an arm?
10:09 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Right. The progression of % thresholds used to be different for normal and debilitating, which really made no sense. So now the 10%, 25%, 50%, 80%, 100%, 150%, and 200% are standard across all types of damage.
10:09 (1701) Nemien: No, I think I missed that. Where did you post it?
10:10 (1720) arthurtuxedo: General discussion forum
10:12 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Also, any crushing / concussion hit for more than HP ignoring resistance is a knockdown.
10:12 (1725) Autumn: Schmack!
10:13 (1720) arthurtuxedo: And delayed attack bonuses for 1, 2, and 3 rounds are now +2, +4, and +6 respectively.
10:13 (1725) Autumn: (( You know, Gerber 3rd Foods Pears is actually pretty tasty. ))
10:13 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Grappling is different.
10:13 (1709) Marshall: I overlooked it because it was the Hightower rulebook.
10:15 (1720) arthurtuxedo: And penalties for moving while firing are -1 for every 2 m/s of relative difference. So if you're both going the same direction at the same speed, no penalty. If you're going opposite directions at 20 m/s and trying to shoot each other as you pass by, -20 penalty.
10:16 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Needs to be explained better, I think, but simple enough in concept.
10:17 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The rest of it is all about medieval weapons and armor, so it doesn't apply, but the damage tables for weapons and armor do.
10:17 (1720) arthurtuxedo: So mainly just the movement thing is the only one you guys should be aware of.
10:18 (1709) Marshall: Since I won't be shooting in this campaign, I am gleefully ignorant! 8D
10:19 (1725) Autumn: Isn't it blissfully?
10:19 (1709) Marshall: I'd say gleefully is higher on the happy scale. It's more an active happy than it's do-nothing counterpart "blissfully"
10:20 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Damn lazy good for nothing blissfuls need to get a job!
10:21 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Be more like your brother Gleeful.
10:21 ** (1725) Autumn laughs. **
10:21 (1725) Autumn: Am I the only one that has giant pictures?
10:21 (1719) Gerard Paloma: No.
10:21 (1701) Nemien: No
10:21 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Click on grid and then back on miniatirues. Should fix it.
10:21 (1725) Autumn: Yay! I'm part of the group!
10:21 (1719) Gerard Paloma: Wait, I misunderstood the question. Dammit, oh well, I guess I was still right.
10:21 ** (1725) Autumn laughs. **
10:22 (1725) Autumn: The clicking thing didn't work.
10:22 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Hmm. They look fine for me.
10:23 (1725) Autumn: When I click on the properties they're 400 some odd by 400 some odd.
10:23 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Hmm. That's pretty strange. Let me try reloading the map.
10:24 (1720) arthurtuxedo: That fix it?
10:24 (1701) Nemien: Yes.
10:24 (1725) Autumn: Yes.
10:24 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Sweet.
10:24 (1720) arthurtuxedo: We ready to kick this sucka off?
10:24 (1690) Tom: yep.
10:24 (1725) Autumn: Si.
10:25 (1719) Gerard Paloma: You know it!
10:26 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Oh good! Last time the characters had been pressed into a large helicopter to ferry wounded troops back to the readiness station. Given orders to fly low and under the radar, Tom took the controls and lifted off.
10:26 (1701) Nemien: YES!
10:26 (1720) arthurtuxedo: * * * Session 3 start * * *
10:27 ** (1709) Marshall keeps his eyes shut tight. **
10:27 (1690) Tom: Tom keeps it low, and relatively slow.
10:27 ** (1725) Autumn keeps a look out for anything that might whackity them. **
10:28 ** (1719) John cracks his knuckles out of habit. **
10:29 (1725) Autumn: (( Do I roll anything to make sure nothing whackities into us? ))
10:29 (1690) Tom: (( Do I have to roll to stop us crashing into something? ))
10:30 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The chopper is a large military transport helicopter, easily capable of holding two squads of soldiers and their equipment. There are mounted miniguns on both doors.
10:30 (1701) Nemien: Nemien sees the miniguns and smiles.
10:30 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (Depends on how low you're trying to fly. This is an urban environment, so if you're low you'll have to really watch out for phone wires and such. Too high and you'll get picked up on radar)
10:31 (1690) Tom: (( Chinook style, or more like the Mi 8 ))
10:31 (1725) Autumn: (( So fly juuuuuust riiiiiight. ))
10:32 (1709) Marshall: (I don't know! Fly casual. Keep your distance - but don't make it look like you're keeping your distance.)
10:33 (1690) Tom: (( Hmm. I hope something like 50 ft, 40 kts is close to alright. 'Cos that what I think would be alright *crosses fingers* ))
10:34 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (I'm not actually that familiar with all the different models of chopper. I can tell an Apache from a Cobra, but that's about the extent of it)
10:34 (1690) Tom: (( Chinook's got two rotors, one either end, the Mi8 is a more conventional layout. ))
10:35 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Tom flies the large chopper at what seems to the passengers like a dangerously high speed and dangerously low altitude, but seems to know what he's doing. (Make a pilot roll at a -4 penalty, remember it's complex, so Dex + 2 x Pilot)
10:36 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (Actually Coord + 2 x pilot)
10:36 ** (1709) Marshall desperately tries to keep his breakfast where it belongs. **
10:36 (1690) Tom: [1d10+7+2*12-4] -> [4,7,24,-4] = (31)
10:36 (1709) Marshall: [1d10+6] -> [1,6] = (7)
10:37 (1690) Tom: (( Wait, should I have rolled more d10's? ))
10:37 (1709) Marshall: [1d10+5] -> [8,5] = (13)
10:38 ** (1709) Marshall fails, but does manage to aim his eggs and bacon out into the late morning air. **
10:38 (1725) Autumn: (( That's so nasty. ))
10:38 ** (1719) John rummages around in his bag. **
10:39 ** (1725) Autumn looks out for...things...and stuff... **
10:39 ** (1719) John produces some motion sickness pills and hands them to Marshall. "A little late now, but hang on to em for later." **
10:40 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+13] -> [3,13] = (16)
10:40 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Tom glides the bird through the streets of the city and between the tall buildings while destruction continues to rain down. One glass building ahead takes a missile to its 100th story, sending a mass of glass and steel spiraling right into the path of the chopper. Without jerking the controls too forcefully, Tom sends the craft into a climb, barely avoiding the bulk of the falling debris. Small pieces of glass and metal pitter patter off the skin of the chopper and make a loud noise as they're thrown by the propeller. The deadly debris falls 10 feet in front of the chopper onto the street below.
10:40 (1725) Autumn: (( I did awareness plus alertness. ))
10:41 (1690) Tom: "Oh, I love this! Terrain's a bitch, and now there's falling debris!" Tom says.
10:42 ** (1709) Marshall takes the pills and puts them in a pocket. "Thanks," he swallows hard, "..." He closes his eyes again as the helicopter makes swooping motions. **
10:42 (1690) Tom: "Some ground fire and my day is completely made!"
10:43 (1725) Autumn: Make Marshall any sicker and we may get plenty of ground fire.
10:43 (1725) Autumn: I can' t imagine they like having that rain down on them.
10:43 (1709) Marshall: I'm fine! I'm fine. I... just not used to moving so much.
10:43 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Despite Tom's tempting of the fates, the ground forces of the robot army have not reached the city yet, and the chopper continues through the crowded streets, masses of unlucky souls seeking desperately to escape the island.
10:43 (1725) Autumn: (( I was just completely reminded of the Family Guy where they all take ipecac for the last piece of pie. ))
10:44 ** (1701) Nemien looks down upon the doomed masses, curiously watching them as you would an over-turned ant pile. **
10:44 (1719) John: (that was hilarious)
10:45 whispering to arthurtuxedo, [1d10 + 14] -> [3,14] = (17) [1d10 + 12] -> [4,12] = (16)
10:45 (1725) Autumn: (( An ant pile covered in boiling hot grease! ))
10:46 whispering to Autumn, At first just a few glints of metal ahead, looking closer, Autumn spots some small flying craft ahead.
10:46 ** (1725) Autumn sees something glint in the distance then puts her hand on Tom's arm. **
10:46 (1725) Autumn: I think I see air craft.
10:46 (1725) Autumn: It's small.
10:47 (1690) Tom: "This might be bad" Tom states looking for the aircraft
10:47 (1709) Marshall: (That's okay. Size isn't important.)
10:47 (1725) Autumn: (( No, but what you do with it is. ))
10:47 (1719) John: (lol)
10:48 (1690) Tom: [1d10+14] -> [7,14] = (21) to spot the glint
10:48 (1690) Tom: (( range penalties halved for perfect vision ))
10:49 (1725) Autumn: To see what she can see better: [1d10+13] -> [8,13] = (21)
10:49 (1725) Autumn: (( Dealer wins! ))
10:51 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Tom sees it, too, about 100 meters ahead. Too small to be helicopters, it looks like hoverbots. Looking over the instrument cluster, it seems that this chopper does have rudimentary jamming equipment. Should at least be enough to buy some time before these things can radio home and let all the bots know there's an inbound chopper.
10:52 ** (1690) Tom stablises the helicopter's lflight for a moment, before flipping on the jammer. **
10:53 (1719) John: "What is it? What's out there?"
10:53 (1690) Tom: "What's our grid reference anyone?"
10:54 (1701) Nemien: (Would having a GPS let me know that?)
10:54 (1725) Autumn: (( I don't even know what that is. ))
10:55 (1690) Tom: (( grid reference gives location on a map. GPS will. ))
10:55 (1725) Autumn: (( OOoh. Like F-23. ))
10:55 (1725) Autumn: (( Means you're by Denny's. ))
10:56 (1725) Autumn: (( Or whatever the franchised diner is in the UK. ))
10:56 (1719) John: (Or about to have your battleship sunk)
10:56 (1690) Tom: (( Yep, though military style is usually a 6 digit number. ))
10:56 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The hoverbots respond immediately to the jamming, and start flying toward the chopper, firing red beams. [1d10] -> [3] = (3) [1d10] -> [1] = (1) [1d10] -> [5] = (5)
10:56 (1725) Autumn: (( We're at grid 666-666. ))
10:57 (1725) Autumn: I don't think they liked that.
10:57 (1690) Tom: Tom starts evasive manuvers
10:57 ** (1725) Autumn holds on to her seat. **
10:58 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The small hoverbots' lasers are designed for anti-personnel work, but they still pack a mean punch. The chopper shudders as one of the lasers sweeps over its skin, and the inside seems to get a lot warmer.
10:58 (1701) Nemien: "Return fire?"
10:58 ** (1725) Autumn also makes sure we don't hit something else trying to avoid the hoverbots. **
10:58 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+13] -> [10,13] = (23)
10:58 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+23] -> [2,23] = (25)
10:59 (1690) Tom: [1d10+7+24] -> [3,7,24] = (34) Piloting check for evasive manuvers
10:59 (1719) John: (can everyone see them now that they've fired?)
10:59 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (Yep)
10:59 (1690) Tom: "Some one, please man the guns."
10:59 ** (1719) John mounts one of the guns. **
11:00 (1725) Autumn: (( snicker ))
11:00 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (The miniguns are Heavy concentration, so remember divide your SL by 2 if you don't have it)
11:00 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Round 2
11:00 ** (1701) Nemien goes to the other gun. **
11:00 (1719) John: (this is going to be fun, then)
11:01 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The hoverbots are now 70 meters away and closing. Don't bother with initiative.
11:01 (1690) Tom: (( use 'em like fire-hoses! ))
11:01 (1766) Marshall (enter): 11:01
11:01 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Booting '(1709) Marshall' from room...
11:01 (1709) Marshall (exit): 11:01
11:01 Attempting to assign the role of LURKER to (1766) Marshall...
11:01 (1725) Autumn: (( Welcome back moofer! ))
11:01 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (1766) Marshall...
11:01 (1766) Marshall: (okay. so I was disconnected. what'd I miss?)
11:02 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (Shooters go ahead and make attack rolls)
11:02 (1719) John: [1d10+7] -> [2,7] = (9)
11:02 (1701) Nemien: [1d10+19] -> [1,19] = (20)
11:02 (1725) Autumn: (( We're air to air battling. ))
11:02 (1766) Marshall: (and dammit if my highly humorous cowardly statement didn't get heard.)
11:02 (1701) Nemien: [20-1d10] -> [20,-7] = (13)
11:02 (1725) Autumn: (( It's probably still valid. ))
11:04 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Relative speed is 10 m/s, but firing platform is stable, so -2 penalty from movement. Range penalty at 70 meters is -8. Rate of fire bonus is +8.
11:05 (1720) arthurtuxedo: (And Heath, you divided your whole AT by 2. It's just the SL, so your AT should be 10)
11:05 (1719) John: (aw shit, ok)
11:05 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Nemien and John open up with the miniguns, sending hundreds of rounds into the streets and buildings.
11:06 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The hoverbots return fire. [1d10] -> [6] = (6) [1d10] -> [8] = (8) [1d10] -> [9] = (9)
11:06 (1720) arthurtuxedo: [1d10] -> [10] = (10) [1d10] -> [10] = (10) [1d10] -> [5] = (5)
11:08 (1772) Marshall (enter): 11:08
11:08 (1720) arthurtuxedo: This time all three hit, two on the skin of the vehicle, burning deep gouges. The third hits the windshield. It heats up and starts to deform until it can no longer deal with the wind and is ejected from its frame down onto the streets below.
11:08 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Round 3
11:08 (1725) Autumn: (( Knock it off. ))
11:08 (1772) Marshall: (thefuck)
11:08 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Range 40 meters, initiative is players go first, bots go second
11:08 (1690) Tom: Tom starts slowing the helicopter
11:09 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Booting '(1766) Marshall' from room...
11:09 ** (1719) John tries to walk the stream. [1d10+10] -> [9,10] = (19) **
11:09 (1766) Marshall (exit): 11:09
11:09 (1701) Nemien: [1d10+19] -> [10,19] = (29)
11:09 Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (1772) Marshall...
11:09 (1701) Nemien: [29+1d10] -> [29,3] = (32)
11:09 (1772) Marshall: Um. Can't we, I don't know, just not fly at them? I don't mean to back seat fly or anything. It's just I have this terrible fear of, you know, horrible painful falling death.
11:10 (1725) Autumn: (( Yay! You got it out! ))
11:11 (1690) Tom: "Its a bit late now! Can barely fly thanks to this damn windblast!"
11:11 (1772) Marshall: (that's why it would have been funnier earlier.)
11:11 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Nemien and John correct the streams, and hose down the bots with over a dozen rounds. Nemien's target is torn to shreds in mid-air, while John's takes one too many hits and plummets to the pavement below.
11:11 (1690) Tom: (( yep. ))
11:12 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Round 3
11:12 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Range 20 meters. Both the chopper and the bot have slowed.
11:13 (1719) John: [1d10+10] -> [7,10] = (17)
11:13 (1690) Tom: Tom starts to reduce the altitude.
11:13 (1701) Nemien: [1d10+19] -> [4,19] = (23)
11:13 (1720) arthurtuxedo: Both minigunners converge their streams on the remaining hoverbot, tearing it to pieces.
11:15 (1690) Tom: Tom calls in their location, and states they have been under attack by hoverbots.
11:15 ** (1772) Marshall breathes a short sigh of relief. Sure, his ultimate demise is somewhat closer, but at least it wasn't now. **
11:15 (1690) Tom: He also checks the gauges for any outside norms.
11:16 ** (1725) Autumn keeps her eyes peeled. **
11:16 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+13] -> [10,13] = (23)
11:16 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+23] -> [4,23] = (27)
11:18 (1720) arthurtuxedo: "Ranger 7, this is home base. Are you able to continue with your mission, over?"

11:19 (1690) Tom: "Base, Ranger 7, We are continuing. Be advised we have taken damage and will be slower."
11:19 (1725) Autumn: (( I think CS moofed again. ))
11:19 (1772) Marshall: (nope?)
11:19 (1690) Tom: (( Hooray! ))
11:19 (1725) Autumn: (( No one say anything and let him think...wait... ))
11:20 (1720) arthurtuxedo: "Roger, Ranger 7. Home base out."
11:20 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The chopper will need some major repairs, but there doesn't seem to be any immediate, fall-from-the-sky damage.
11:20 (1690) Tom: (( new speed ~15 knots, 40 ft altitude ))
11:22 (1720) arthurtuxedo: The ponderously slow speed makes the passengers feel safer, and obstructions are easier to navigate. A few other choppers go ahead, one at way too high of an altitude. A thick red beam suddenly comes from over the horizon, vaporizing the offending helicopter almost instantly.

11:23 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Weird)
11:23 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The ponderously slow speed makes the passengers feel safer, and obstructions are easier to navigate. A few other choppers go ahead, one at way too high of an altitude. A thick red beam suddenly comes from over the horizon, vaporizing the offending helicopter almost instantly.
11:23 (1725) Autumn: Idiot.
11:23 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Booting '(1720) arthurtuxedo' from room...
11:23 (1720) arthurtuxedo (exit): 11:23
11:24 (1719) John: "Poor bastards."
11:24 Attempting to assign the role of GM to (1788) arthurtuxedo...
11:24 (1690) Tom: "And that is why nap-of-the-earth is the only way to fly!"
11:24 ** (1725) Autumn nods. **
11:24 (1725) Autumn: At least the genetic pool has been further cleansed.
11:24 ** (1725) Autumn looks at the carnage. **
11:24 (1725) Autumn: More.
11:25 (1690) Tom: "Where?"
11:25 (1701) Nemien: Good ridance.
11:25 (1772) Marshall: What?
11:25 (1725) Autumn: Down there. I just meant there's a lot of cleansing going on below us as well.
11:25 (1690) Tom: "Ah."
11:26 (1725) Autumn: I suppose it's sad in a way, but...there's little one can do about it.
11:26 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The group soon leaves the island of Manhattan and begins traveling over the vast, sprawling gang territory that makes up the rest of the modern New York / New Jersey area. If the corporates couldn't hold Manhattan, they'd have to try to take up refuge somewhere in that lawless place.
11:26 (1725) Autumn: (( What? Like You're Special? ))
11:26 (1690) Tom: "You do what you can. And just hope it's close to enough for the people you can help..."
11:27 ** (1725) Autumn nods. **
11:28 (1772) Marshall: (did art get disconnected again?)
11:28 (1701) Nemien: (Nemien? She has no compassion for others really.)
11:29 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (No, I'm here)
11:29 (1725) Autumn: (( I was "quoting" a New Jersey state sign from a cartoon. ;o) ))
11:30 (1788) arthurtuxedo: After a while, the group reaches the back area of the fighting, ahead a vast battle rages, and the corporate forces are clearly losing. Red beams scythe through tanks and APC's left and right, and every bot that's destroyed seems to be replaced by two more.
11:31 (1725) Autumn: That looks promising.
11:31 ** (1725) Autumn gives a slightly nervous smile. **
11:31 (1772) Marshall: Oh... my.
11:31 (1725) Autumn: Wanna fly us through this Marsh?
11:31 (1690) Tom: Tom maximises the cover availible for the helicopter.
11:32 (1690) Tom: "Looks like we'll be flying heavily loaded."
11:32 (1725) Autumn: (( I really need something to eat..brb. ))
11:33 (1690) Tom: "We should be approaching the LZ soon."
11:33 ** (1772) Marshall looks concerned "The what?" **
11:33 (1725) Autumn: Good.
11:34 (1725) Autumn: The LZ.
11:34 (1725) Autumn: Fo'shizzle.
11:34 (1772) Marshall: That part I heard. What is it? *looks out over the battle*
11:34 (1725) Autumn: Landing Zone.
11:34 ** (1719) John checks his bag, for no reason other than to check it. **
11:35 (1725) Autumn: (( Down with OCD yeah you know me! ))
11:35 (1690) Tom: "Landing Zone. Where we pick up the wounded."
11:36 (1725) Autumn: Try not to get your vomitus all over them.
11:36 ** (1725) Autumn grins. **
11:36 (1772) Marshall: Of course. *looks relieved again* I knew that.
11:37 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Touching down among the other helicopters, the chopper is almost immediately filled with wounded, packed in like sardines without so much as an introduction. "Go, go, go!" yells the man once the chopper is filled to the gills.
11:38 (1690) Tom: Tom lifts the helo, the wheels having barely touched.
11:38 (1690) Tom: "Everyone secure back there?"
11:38 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Many of the soldiers are unconscious, and some will probably not make it. Others look like they might pull through.
11:38 ** (1725) Autumn involuntarily crinkles her nose at the smell of the injured, burnt flesh and all that goes with it. **
11:38 ** (1719) John goes to work, checking over his new patients. **
11:38 (1701) Nemien: "Yes."
11:39 (1690) Tom: Tom flies carefully, trying not to shake up the fragile cargo.
11:39 (1725) Autumn: (( When one dies, if we get a chopper after us, we should totally toss the dead body into the engine like Brock did when they were attacking Phantom Limb. ))
11:40 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Oh noes)
11:40 (1725) Autumn: (( "These last five minutes under your command have been the proudest of my life!" *dies* *shreds* ))
11:40 (1719) John: (do I need to make some sort of roll or rolls?)
11:41 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Yes, medic roll)
11:41 (1725) Autumn: (( I like yeast rolls. ))
11:41 (1719) John: (complex skills double the SL, right?)
11:41 (1788) arthurtuxedo: John works furiously to stabilize the saveable patients while Tom tries to keep the bird low and steady.
11:41 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Yep)
11:42 (1690) Tom: (( Da. ))
11:42 (1719) John: [1d10+48] -> [8,48] = (56)
11:43 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The front lines are rapidly overrun, and Tom is forced to increase his speed just to keep ahead of the advancing bots. Anyone who was back there now is a goner, and there isn't a whole hell of a lot standing between the bots and Manhattan now.
11:44 (1690) Tom: "This situation is going south, and rapidly."
11:44 ** (1725) Autumn says a silent prayer for her car. **
11:44 (1725) Autumn: Hopefully, so are we.
11:46 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Working quickly, John uses his prodigious medical knowledge to quickly diagnose and treat the patients. Some of them will need hospital facilities with better equipment, and some of them simply can't be saved, but John manages to stabilize all of the ones that could be stabilized.
11:46 (1725) Autumn: (( Dump the dead weight so we can go faster. ))
11:48 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The chopper gets back to the shoreline of Manhattan, and flies over a large group of tanks, APC's, and attack helicopters, looking impressive but also suspiciously like a Wild Bunch-esque last stand in the making. The streets are now mostly empty, the populations having emptied into "safe" locations or into the surrounding gangland.
11:48 (1725) Autumn: (( I think we should go to the Bahamas. ))
11:49 (1690) Tom: (( Do we have a helicopter that can do that? ))
11:49 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The soldiers look down on the defensive army, each of them knowing what will happen. Still, one said "I wish I could be down there with them." A couple murmur agreement.
11:49 (1725) Autumn: There might be a couple parachutes on board.
11:50 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Sure, you can go across the country in this chopper. All you need is a flatbed big rig to haul it with :) )
11:50 (1690) Tom: "I'm just glad I'm CASEVAC..."
11:50 (1719) John: (haha)
11:51 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The soldier gives Autumn a dirty look, but says nothing.
11:51 (1725) Autumn: (( I wasn't making a joke. They might be paratroopers for all I know. ))
11:52 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The fast moving vanguard of the robotic forces crash into the defensive line, red beams, bullets, and missiles flying. The first wave is destroyed, but at great cost, and the second, third, and fourth are right behind.
11:52 (1690) Tom: (( "Sorry guys, I forgot to bring the ropes, so no fast-roping for you" :P ))
11:52 ** (1772) Marshall gets an idea and pulls out his laptop. He begins typing furiously. [1d10+18] -> [10,18] = (28) (hacking a nearby hoverbot, reprogramming to attack its allies) **
11:52 (1772) Marshall: [1d10+28] -> [4,28] = (32)
11:53 (1719) John: (check out the big brain on Marshall)
11:53 (1725) Autumn: (( It's not the size that matters. ))
11:53 (1772) Marshall: (Don't let it be said that I don't know how to use it)
11:54 (1725) Autumn: (( Oh, I know you do. ))
11:55 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Working mostly on instinct, Marshall furiously types. Tricking a hoverbot into firing on its compatriots, he buys the group some more time.
11:58 (1690) Tom: (( now do it to the rest of them! ))
11:58 (1788) arthurtuxedo: As the robot ground forces approach the island, their artillery opens up in concert with another missile barrage like the one that opened the assault, as well as a similar barrage of short-ranged missiles. Unable to cope with the number of projectiles, fully half of them get through. The first targets are the laser defences themselves, and they are quickly silenced.
11:58 (1772) Marshall: (Yes, just a few thousand more times ought to do it)
11:58 (1725) Autumn: (( Or one time on the right bot. ))
12:00 (1788) arthurtuxedo: "All Ranger units, this is Home Base. We're receiving heavy fire, reroute landing to... *BOOM BOOM BOOM* *static*"
12:01 (1772) Marshall: (That's the thing about sentient AI, I can trick it once, maybe twice, but after that, no go.)
12:01 (1690) Tom: "Ain't that a pain..."
12:01 (1719) John: (I've got the urge to shout, "Game over, man! Game over!")
12:01 (1690) Tom: (( Feel free. ))
12:02 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Without the defenses to stop them, missiles and artillery slam into the city with unholy ferocity. Whole buildings start to collapse. It's not safe to be here.
12:02 (1725) Autumn: (( Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me seven times, shame on me. ))
12:02 ** (1725) Autumn looks at Tom. **
12:02 (1725) Autumn: Perhaps we should go somewhere else?
12:03 (1725) Autumn: I'd feel bad if we got poor Marshall killed.
12:03 ** (1725) Autumn smiles. **
12:03 (1690) Tom: "I agree. Manhattan is fucked."
12:03 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Make a piloting roll)
12:03 (1690) Tom: [1d10+7+24] -> [6,7,24] = (37)
12:03 (1690) Tom: "Where?"
12:04 (1725) Autumn: That, I don't have a clue.
12:04 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Tom suddenly banks the chopper hard on instinct. A second later, a missile slams into the building right next to the bird, shaking it violently.
12:04 (1725) Autumn: (( Any suggestions oh great wise monkey? ))
12:04 (1772) Marshall: Gurk!
12:04 (1725) Autumn: Away from that.
12:04 (1701) Nemien: Agreed.
12:05 (1725) Autumn: (( This reminds me when me and Shini are out driving around and at every intersection we go "Left, right straight?" and go whichever gets yelled out first. ))
12:05 (1690) Tom: "Got it! We got a line of advance on the oppo?"
12:05 (1788) arthurtuxedo: With an ironfisted grip on the controls, Tom keeps the chopper from plumetting to the Earth. Everyone nearly blacks out, and sound only begins to return a few seconds later.
12:05 (1725) Autumn: (( Did you hear about the hang-glider that had that happen to her? ))
12:06 (1788) arthurtuxedo: A dozen different instrument panels are flashing red and an alarm sound rings throughout the cockpit. The fuel meter is dropping precipitously. Landing in Manhattan would be a death sentence, but this bird won't go far.
12:06 (1725) Autumn: (( She got caught in a storm and thrown up to 38,000 feet and blacked out, but came back to as she came down and was able to land, severe ice burns and all. ))
12:06 (1772) Marshall: Oh god. Oh god... Game over, man. Game over!
12:07 (1725) Autumn: Too bad the bird doesn't have a parachute.
12:07 (1690) Tom: Tom heads as far away from the known enemy forces as possible
12:07 (1701) Nemien: "Distracting the pilot is rarely a good idea. If you want to crash, continue yelling."
12:07 (1719) John: (way to be original, Marshall. ;) )
12:08 (1772) Marshall: (hey, someone had to say it)
12:08 (1690) Tom: "Parachutes don't generally work well with helos!"
12:08 (1690) Tom: (( Crashing is now only a matter of time... ))
12:08 (1725) Autumn: Just pop off the top blade and let a parachute pop out.
12:09 (1719) John: "Would now be a good time to brace for impact?"
12:10 (1690) Tom: "If you want... I'll call when nessisary"
12:10 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (The questions are, how fast do you try to fly and how far? You need to go at least 2 miles to get out of Manhattan, and from the looks of things, you'd better do it in a few minutes)
12:11 (1690) Tom: (( as far as the fuel lasts, and at as fast as the helo will fly! Landing will be unpleasant... ))
12:12 (1725) Autumn: (( Would landing in water be better or worse? ))
12:12 (1772) Marshall: Ooh man.
12:12 (1690) Tom: (( Auto-rotation slows down a crash, and those in seats have it better. ))
12:13 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Pilot roll)
12:14 (1690) Tom: [1d10+7+24] -> [4,7,24] = (35)
12:14 (1772) Marshall: Idon'twanttodie.Idon'twanttodie.Idon'twanttodie.Idon'twanttodie.Idon'twanttodie.
12:15 (1690) Tom: "Brace, Brace Brace" ((if we are dgoing to crash, at least!))
12:16 ** (1725) Autumn braces. **
12:16 ** (1719) John does as he's told. **
12:16 ** (1701) Nemien braces. **
12:19 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Tom pushes the wounded bird over 100 knots to get out of the city, hoping that it doesn't decide to crash at such a high speed. Once over water, he throttles it back. Once over land in The Bronx, Tom steadies the chopper out for a rooftop landing. The bird shudders a few times, but comes down nice and slow. But the perfect landing is suddenly ruined by a deafening scraping sound followed by a sudden loss of lift. The roof collapses, and the chopper tips sideways. One of the landing feet is sheared off and the group is thrown around inside the chopper. A few of the unlucky soldiers fly outside the doors. (Everyone do a general and pinpoint location roll)

12:25 (1719) John: (in the jaw)
12:26 (1725) Autumn: (( Yup. ))
12:26 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Damage is 6 minus your Resistance, but it's at least 2 due to bleedthrough. Damage is taken to the location you rolled, and also as a Severity 1 hit if it's debilitating
12:26 (1725) Autumn: (( Laaaame biscuits. ))
12:27 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (And remember that Resistance only counts for spots that your armor actually covers. A vest won't protect your ankle.)
12:27 (1725) Autumn: (( So what does that mean if my Resistance is 6? ))
12:27 (1725) Autumn: (( Nevermind. I have no jaw helmet. ))
12:27 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Nothing, since your vest doesn't cover your jaw :) )
12:28 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Does everyone have the hit location table in front of them, and knows where they took the hit?)
12:28 (1690) Tom: (( no resistance on the wrist, I guess. Is it just the 6 damage? ))
12:28 (1701) Nemien: (Yes.)
12:28 (1725) Autumn: (( So am I out? ))
12:28 (1719) John: (Does a vest cover the shoulder?)
12:29 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Yeah, shoulder is covered)
12:29 (1701) Nemien: (I believe I take no harm, as 1 damage is less than 10% of my hitpoints.)
12:29 (1725) Autumn: (( I guess that means I'm down to 4 HP. ))
12:29 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (2 damage, bleedthrough of 1/3 for crushing / concussion damage)
12:30 (1719) John: (ok, so I take 2 damage to the left shoulder, which is 20% of HP, so my left arm is Hurt, -1 to all rolls with that limb.)
12:30 (1725) Autumn: (( At least a busted jaw won't affect my ability to pull a trigger. ))
12:31 (1690) Tom: (( ouch. Sprained left wrist (6 is 2/3 of 9, so take the 50% damage, or -5 to rolls with left hand.) ))
12:31 (1772) Marshall: (I don't type with my toes, so I'm okay as far as that goes. But, um, I'm not walking normal for a while.)
12:33 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Okay, so that was the first point of impact. Falls have two, so now we do it all over :) )

12:34 (1719) John: (right foot)
12:34 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (That's only for slashing)
12:34 (1690) Tom: (( Right in the gut! Intestines... ))
12:37 (1690) Tom: (( I got dropped? ))
12:37 (1772) Marshall: ((no one say anything)(
12:37 (1690) Tom: (( I was worried... ))
12:37 (1725) Autumn: (( About what? ))
12:37 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Still going through and writing down the injuries)
12:38 (1690) Tom: (( Was it 6 damage again? ))
12:38 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (6 damage, yes)
12:39 (1701) Nemien: (No damage again.)
12:40 (1772) Marshall: (I should be dead!)
12:40 (1719) John: (uh, Marshall, you rolled a d12 for your pinpoint location)
12:41 (1725) Autumn: (( Cheater! ))
12:41 (1772) Marshall: (( no I didn't ))
12:41 (1690) Tom: (( damned borged up people... They just aren't fully human... ))
12:42 (1772) Marshall: [1d20] -> [3] = (3)
12:42 (1772) Marshall: (I rather liked the image of me breaking my ankle then going ass over tea kettle to hit my ear.)
12:43 (1719) John: (and knocking yourself unconscious)
12:43 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The free falling feeling as the chopper plummets is like some horrible version of an amusement park ride. There is a second of pure silence as everyone's stomachs leap into their throats before the terrible impact.
12:44 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Autumn is turned upside down, her knee hitting the roof of the cockpit and shattering into a million pieces. She comes back down and hits the seat jaw first, knocking her unconscious.
12:45 (1719) John: (pwned!)
12:45 ** (1725) Autumn enters the blackness. **
12:46 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Tom's left wrist gets caught on the controls while the rest of his body is flung, causing many hairline fractures in his arm. He is thrown back onto the controls gut first, and feels like he's ruptured something. Unluckily enough, he manages to remain conscious.
12:46 (1690) Tom: (( There's a reason that you have belts on these things, and this is it... ))
12:47 (1725) Autumn: (( Did any of us buckle in? ))
12:47 (1719) John: (Pah! Safety belts are for fools! Everyone knows they prevent you from being thrown free to safety in a crash.)
12:47 (1788) arthurtuxedo: John is flung forward, his left shoulder hitting the pilot's seat. The vest absorbs most of the impact, but it still hurts. His right leg hits the copilot's seat and twists his ankle badly. The rest of his body strikes the body of the chopper.
12:48 (1690) Tom: (( "Yeah, reeaal nice plan" ))
12:49 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Marshall's foot is caught on the seat, and his ankle is shattered into bits. He hits the roof back first, and has all the wind knocked out of him.
12:49 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Nemien is tossed around as much as anyone else, but gets up without a scratch.
12:49 (1772) Marshall: (( Ow! Somethin' bit me! ))
12:50 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The wounded soldiers have it even worse. A few of them had their necks broken, a few others were thrown outside onto fenceposts or into the rotors, and one simply had his head caved in. Only a few of them look to be in anything resembling decent shape.
12:50 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Summary: Autumn: Critical, KO'd. Crippled right leg.)
12:50 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Tom: Damaged left arm (-5). Wounded (-2, cannot sprint), internal bleeding (3 / min).)
12:50 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (John: Hurt left shoulder (-1). Damaged right leg (-5). Hurt (-1).)
12:50 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Marshall: Right ankle useless. Wounded (-2, cannot sprint).)
12:51 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Nemien: No injuries.)
12:51 (1690) Tom: (( Thought I had a lvl 2 vest, with 6 resistance ))
12:51 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Don't look at the man behind the curtain, for he is a douchebag!)
12:51 (1719) John: (Wait, my leg is damaged? I wear leggings. Oh, but that doesn't matter for the foot, does it? Shit.)
12:52 (1690) Tom: (( That should only be 2 damage bleedthrough, and Status: Hurt. ))
12:52 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Retcon: Tom: Damaged left arm (-5). Hurt (-1).)
12:53 (1788) arthurtuxedo: After a few seconds, the "ride" is over, and everyone pulls themselves together.
12:53 ** (1719) John busies himself with going over all his old patients, and the new ones, too. **
12:54 ** (1725) Autumn remains unconscious. **
12:54 (1719) John: (should I roll for each PC? How does it work?)
12:54 (1690) Tom: "Doc! Autumn's hurt bad!"
12:55 (1772) Marshall: (( *has his way with the unconscious Autumn* ))
12:55 ** (1725) Autumn bleeds for effect. **
12:55 (1788) arthurtuxedo: The chopper has come to rest sideways between a pair of two-buildings, suspended a few feet of the ground.
12:55 (1788) arthurtuxedo: *Pair of two-story buildings
12:56 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (The only one that needs immediate care is Autumn. A good enough roll will take her leg to Useless, so she won't be a cripple)
12:56 ** (1719) John tends to Autumn first. [1d10+48] -> [5,48] = (53) **
12:57 ** (1772) Marshall does his part by not weeping, gnashing his teeth, dying or whining. **
12:57 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Taking a moment to find his equipment in the mess, John quickly attends to Autumn's ankle, moving the broken bones so that they'll set properly.
12:57 ** (1701) Nemien scans the surroundings for hostiles, then heads back inside to help. [1d10+15] -> [2,15] = (17) **
12:57 (1725) Autumn: (( Knee ))
12:58 ** (1690) Tom helps John with Autumn, although passing bandages is all he's really good for. **
12:59 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (That's the one)
01:00 (1725) Autumn: (( There's no bones in knees, just cartillage, isn't there? ))
01:00 ** (1719) John waves some smelling salts under Autumn's nose. **
01:00 (1772) Marshall: (but there are bones at the knee)
01:00 (1725) Autumn: (( Fuck you I don't want to be in pain. ))
01:01 (1725) Autumn: (( Shattered bones. ))
01:02 (1725) Autumn: (( Do I roll to wake up or does he? ))
01:02 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Willpower Check DF 15 to stay conscious)
01:02 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (Just 1d10 + Willpower)
01:02 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+5] -> [7,5] = (12)
01:03 (1725) Autumn: [1d10+6] -> [7,6] = (13)
01:03 (1725) Autumn: (( It's actually 6, I think. ))
01:03 (1719) John: "She's out cold." John looks at the others. "I guess we should get out of here."
01:04 ** (1725) Autumn bleeds and drools and looks generally horrid. **
01:04 (1772) Marshall: But, but where do we go?
01:05 (1690) Tom: "Yeah, but with all the injuries a vehicle would be a good idea"
01:05 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Poking her head out of the chopper, Nemien apparently sees someone. She calls "We mean no harm," as she reaches for her rifle.
01:06 (1725) Autumn: (( Shini's on the phone suggesting I roll something that takes charisma. ))
01:06 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Someone outside the chopper whistles sharply.
01:07 (1772) Marshall: (( you tell him he can roll charisma when he can pry it from my cold, dead hands ))
01:07 (1725) Autumn: (( He laughed and said "OK". ))
01:07 (1772) Marshall: (( weeps for soon he shall be cold and dead ))
01:07 (1719) John: "Are they hostile?" John takes his gun from his bag.
01:07 ** (1690) Tom checks his weapons. **
01:08 (1701) Nemien: "Yes, we have hostiles."
01:08 (1719) John: "Shit."
01:09 (1725) Autumn: (( Autumn becomes the sacrificial bosy. ))
01:09 (1725) Autumn: (( *body ))
01:09 ** (1690) Tom gets ready to fight... **
01:09 (1772) Marshall: Oh no. They're going to rape us and sew our skin into their clothes. I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!
01:10 (1690) Tom: "Someone been watching too much cult sci-fi..."
01:10 (1719) John: "How many?"
01:11 (1701) Nemien: Nemien ducks back inside the copter and activates her chameleon processor. "I saw three, but there are more."
01:13 (1701) Nemien: Unlimbering her rifle, she peeks outside looking for targets.
01:13 (1788) arthurtuxedo: More toughs have come out of the houses and taken up cover, but they haven't opened fire yet.
01:13 ** (1690) Tom positions himself better in the helo, so that he's ready to do his bit. **
01:14 ** (1772) Marshall does what he knows how to do: hide. **
01:14 (1725) Autumn: (( Marshall needs these: http://www.neuticles.com/index1.html ))
01:15 ** (1719) John sets up at the doorway, ready to fire. **
01:15 (1788) arthurtuxedo: (And....)
01:15 (1788) arthurtuxedo: * * * End Session 3 * * *
01:16 (1719) John: Woot! We're all gonna die!
01:16 (1788) arthurtuxedo: 15 XP awarded. Running total of 30
01:16 (1725) Autumn: Yay!
01:17 (1701) Nemien: Cool.
01:17 (1788) arthurtuxedo: That was pretty fun.
01:17 (1725) Autumn: Indeed.
01:17 (1772) Marshall: word
01:17 (1701) Nemien: Yup
01:18 (1690) Bill: yeah
01:18 (1719) Gerard Paloma: Same time next week?
01:18 (1725) Autumn: Hopefully!
01:19 (1701) Nemien: Yes.
01:19 (1725) Autumn: But I needs must run away right now, so I'll catch everyone later! Bye!
01:19 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Yes indeedy.
01:19 (1725) Autumn: If sex is a pain in the ass, you're doing it wrong.
01:19 (1725) Autumn (exit): 13:19
01:19 (1772) Marshall: right on
01:19 (1719) Gerard Paloma: Awesome sauce. Alright, I'm out. See youse guys later.
01:19 (1690) Bill: bye
01:19 (1788) arthurtuxedo: So who's interested in the Hot Plasma, Cold Dames campaign, and what day and time is good?
01:19 (1719) Gerard Paloma: Mine is an evil laugh
01:19 (1719) Gerard Paloma (exit): 13:19
01:20 (1772) Marshall: He has a really large cock.
01:20 (1772) Marshall (exit): 13:20
01:21 (1701) Nemien: I would be, but I suspect the time for it would be impossible for me to make. You have it on a weekday, right?
01:21 (1690) Bill: I can't make anything but morning sessions really... And during the week that isn't any good at all.
01:21 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Yeah. Shooting for Wednesdays.
01:22 (1788) arthurtuxedo: But any day of the week might work.
01:22 (1701) Nemien: Yeah, I can't make it then. Sorry.
01:23 (1701) Nemien: Have fun.
01:23 (1690) Bill: [7+12+8-24] -> 3
01:23 (1690) Bill: 3:30 AM local isn't any good for me...
01:23 (1701) Nemien: Darkness comes darkness falls, darkness takes us all.
01:23 (1701) Nemien (exit): 13:23
01:23 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Ah, yes. That could be a problem.
01:23 (1788) arthurtuxedo: Well, see you next week.
01:24 (1690) Bill: seeya next week
01:24 (1690) Bill: Sleep is for the weak! Well, I guess I'm weak.
01:24 (1690) Bill (exit): 13:24
